first a little background...

DJ Short on the Blue Family...
“The ‘Blue Family” of the herbal community originated from crosses of four varieties: Highland Thai, Chocolate Thai, Highland Oaxaca Gold, and Afghan Indica. All were pure P-1 contributing ancestors. Both Thai varieties and the Oaxaca were pure , land-race sativas. The seeds were gleaned from the connoisseur’s choice herb of the late 1970s/early 1980's directly from their region of origin. The indica line came on generation removed from its region of origin in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan via the growing community and network in Northern California and Southern Oregon.

“The Highland Thai, also known as ‘Juicy Fruit Thai,’ produced a maze of many branches in a full, bushy tangle that was quite asymmetric, developing no easily identifiable main stem at maturity. The Oaxaca Gold was crossed with the Chocolate Thai to produce a plant that became known as ‘Purple Thai’ The Purple Thai had symmetric branching patterns and grew tall with support. Both the Highland Thai and the Purple Thai were late bloomers, with finishing times that ranged between 10-16 weeks indoors or as late as mid-November outside, and sported at least minimal hermaphroditism. They each also produced champion herb that had little or no ‘ceiling’ to them; that is, the more on consumed, the higher the experience.

The Purple and Highland Thai became the two female contributors to the Blue Family. Females were selected for overall quality of the finished product, including bouquet, flavor and buzz, as well as the lowest incidence of hermaphroditism. The afghani Indica supplied the male P-1 pollen source. Selection among the Afghani plants was based on stout full structure and strong, musky, ‘skunkish’ odor. The resulting cross grew very uniformly to a medium height, producing long, spear-shaped buds. I referred to this f1 simply as ‘the cross.’ When two of these ‘cross’ plants were bred together, ther resulting f2' double cross’ produced an extreme variation in phenotypic expression. It was from these varied ‘double cross f2s that the Blue Family members were chosen and stabalized through several generations of selective breeding.

Blue Moonshine is mostly indica, in structure and potency. A very short, stout, plant that developed dark green leaves and purple stems.

Growing with organic fertilizers is optimal, as this allows Blueberry to retain the nuance of its flavors, making the quality upmost
....Growing was fairly simple as she did everything she was supposed to do. A slow vegging plants that doesn’t yield as well as others, but she more than makes up for it in the end.

The visual appeal to this bud is outstanding, I don’t refer to ‘bag appeal’ as these buds will never see the inside of a baggie...lol. The buds are extremely tight and dense...the smallest bud will grind out to a full bowl. When you do decide to take the plunge and break one of these suckers apart, you are gifted with the most enjoyable fragrances...blueberry, lavender, and skunk...oh my. It is truly a musky smell, and is not well conceiled. The buzz is immediate and long lasting, and of the highest quality. With the first toke you are jolted onto a roller coaster ride of your life!! The buzz is very phsyical, and it seems to induce the munchies...as me and my brother polished of a box of cookies, a bag of oranges, and a bag of starburst, all in one sitting....then we decided to go out to grab some lunch....lol The tail end of this buzz is very sedating...as in once we got to the restaurant we didn’t talk throughout the entire meal...we just nodded and yawned the whole time.

This strain is great for defeating anxiety, and inducing a mellow approach to life. However if you overdo things...well it can get intense to say the least. :yoinks:

All in all this is some great smoke...Sunny gives it TWO BIG THUMBS UP!!!

Go get yourself some bluemoonshine by DJ Short...you wont be disapointed.

Even in Veg they have Crystals forming I'm glad your happy with them as I'm sure I will be. Do thye Color up like that naturally or was there a lil Temp Manipulation? Outstanding Sunny!

Blatant...I appreciate the kinds words, and coming from a straight shooting no bullshit guy like you!! it makes my day. No temp maniuplation...maybe a 10 degree drop at night. This is truely a colorful plant under any conditions. You can see in the photo posted by southernsmoker...his were grown in a different room 3 months earlier, with same results.

However...we both noticed that extreme color was brought out by a good flush. The more the better.

See the difference in the two...

I'm seriously thinking about going JLP style and running the whole fleet...it would take a second mortgage to do it tho..

Bman: the cuttings I gave you are JLP's Ultimate Moonshine F2's, which is Blue Moonshine x Legends Ultimate indica, not a pure BM.

Looking killer there sunny.
