Lazy Growers And Noobs

So many lazy growers out there these days. Some of the questions I see are outrageously stupid...thus the reason some people don`t get responses. For you lazy fuckers out there, invest in a good grow book. One with LOTS of pictures and very informative info. Watch the dates on the books you buy. If the book was printed in 1985 then know the information is outdated as far as how things are done today. Pay close attention to what you read and make sure you understand it! Anyone can pick up a grow book and read it but not everyone is going to understand it. If you run across a word and don`t know what it means then FIND OUT! Take the extra step to invest in a good grow book or 2 and take your time. A good book is well worth it`s weight in nuggz! Keep It GreeN! :joint:

Books are a wonderful, quickly accessible reference guide. I have found so much useful information in a number of books including Bushy Old Grower's. The only issue I have with his book in particular is how disconnected a lot of the info is (wonder why).

Although I love books, I have found so much more useful info on sites such as this. The ability to ask and search specific questions regarding specific strains is priceless.

I am no uber expert on the topic of cultivation but have quite a few very successful harvests under my belt and have begun an article in a local recreation mag outlining my particular process and how one can expand on it. All in all, it's been a lot of fun and I am re-learing a lot by reflecting on my techniques.

I closing, I feel it is important for all of us to spread as much knowledge and positivity as possible in an effort to keep hobbies such as this alive and well.

Excuse me for my ignorance. I don't know authors, or titles but,

for those lazy guys and gals who are broke. You can find books online without making a purchase. That's where I started and then found a few message boards and helpful growers.

If there's a thread without a response and I can answer the question I'll offer the obvious answer, I'll do it. If I can't answer or be helpful, that's why there's no responses.

Thats what these forums are for... For people to share knowledge, and also for people to ask questions and learn. Going out and trying to find a book about cannabis cultivation is not practical when a simple problem arises. Forums like ICmag are a very fast resource for relevant information, not just for "lazy growers and noobs," but for everyone.

That's what I thought the point of this forum was aswell.

Was also under the assumption that the only stupid question is the one not asked.

I agree totally. However one can never find ALL the information about one thing from one area. I am on plenty of forums and LOVE the I.C! However I have read over TONS of stuff in books. Books by DJ and SOMA are priceless. Stuff in those books are not on forums. I was simply stating, get a good grow book along with forums and all will be that much better! :2cents:

you all seem to not have understood what hempluvr's point is..

He didn't say you shouldn't be asking questions on the boards , he said the basics for growing can be found in so many available sources , like in good books and mags. Forum FAQs is another great source that comes to mind , free and online.

Trying to understand something and asking Qs is normal but when you see another and another thread on something that has been answered a million times and is on so many threads and FAQs and all this info is so easy to find , then yeah I think I d rather spend my time and energy into answering qs to those that really need it instead to those that are basically lazy doing zero research.

..And you can easily tell if the guy did his homework or is simply a lazy stoner that wants everything answered fast and effortlessly.

Sure there are posters like that.. But, who am I to judge. Maybe they don't know how to work forums well. Maybe they're old cats who live in the woods using dial up and come off as lazy stoners. Maybe they don't have acess to books in those woods. There's always 2 sides to every coin bro. And, sure it can get annoying, If you choose to let it annoy you.

Jorge Cervantes new Medical Grow Bible is simply awesome. Any question you may have about reefer is answered in that book.

did splinter cell come with any of these books??? hehehe

for all the new guys here (myself included) its real simple....find a growers thread that makes ur jaw drop(in my case it was dongle69's 6k watt room)...and try to emulate is as best as u can. obviously at a much lower scale since we dont know our left from our right at this point. you'll find some growers will cover pretty much EVERYTHING in their threads. supplement this with constant searching and a few books/videos and i think u'll be good to go. And please understand, We're going to FUCK UP. theres no way around this..lol..its the only way to properly learn. when u run into a problem and u fix it, chances are that ur not gonna let it happen again. like i said earlier...small scale...i think the biggest reason y the noobs get so intimidated is because they bite off more than they can chew and stand to lose a lot of money when things go sour.

my 2 pennies

patience baby!!! patience!!

The best way to learn is through experience. A book will give you privacy in that books don't log your IP address when you open it.

You'll never know everything or learn enough.
I've been in this for almost 20 years and still buy and read books.
I also spend a few hours daily on different cannabis forums mostly reading and learning.
I've got a pretty good library between the books and all the High Times, Cannabis Culture and other mags.
What's nice on the forums is for the most part it's up to the minute stuff you can learn about, plus older information that jogs the memory and is a great refresher course.
The books and mags are just great to have.
My copy of Hemp Diseases and Pests by MacPartland, Clarke, and Watson has been in the field with me a lot more then my computer has:2cents:

I got it back around 2000 and can't remember where.
At the time I had subscriptions to both High Times and Cannabis Culture.
I know I read about it in one of those mags and may have ordered it though either mags bookstore.
I know it was around $100. and worth every penny.

The grow book...the online manuals/articles help me a lot.

Can look something up in a book or online and it still makes me go hmmmm....I kinda understand it, perhaps I even do...but it sure would be nice to talk to the writer and ask him.

Aw shit I can't.

And why do the people here help?

Do what you can

Learn what you can

Improve the solution

Pass on your knowledge

And as a result we are all smokin not just good weed...but damn good weed...sometimes incredible weed....YAHOO!!!

Why drink Jack Daniels when you can smoke Jack Herrer

Easy to understand the mistake of assuming a book will be a tell-all know-all source. Authors can only research the current knowledge at the time their book is presented. In Cannabis World that knowledge, in regards to cultivation, changes in a quarterly fashion. Also, even though there has been a "supposed" leniency initiated in regards to growers...I WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT SO HASTILY.
Real world experience should be valued in the highest...but never take any one person's word as the highest (dispensary owner/buyer, your growing cousin, politician, you know think for yourself)
Jorge's Bible was the best for me as a starter way back when as well as Ed's...but they only went as far as ther knowledge.
