Tying down plants

Any ideas or pics on how to tie my 2 plants down? Plants are 4 ft tall and about 2 weeks into flower. About 6 inches from light which is maxed out for heighth. Skunk 1. So, 75% sativa. The sativas seen to stretch. Next time i will grow chronic which is 50% sativa.

if you can find lower nodes where there are no preflowers. Super Crop it and then you can tie it down.
Pinch it with your fingers and then bend it over.

if you are only 14 days into 12/12 i think you will be ok.

You can do one of the heavy handed breaking methods like supercropping, or you could try my more gentle PJJ (plant jiu jitsu) method. It just takes a bit more skill to master, but well worth it because there's no stress and plants grow fast right away. The key to PJJ is to crush only the undersides of branches (or the side of mainstems that you want to lean in that direction) without breaking the topside fibers. The principal is kind of like heat bending of wood for canoes or violins in the sense that you're shortening the bent side without lengthening the stretched side. You can spread the area of bend over a length of the stem/branch to get a graceful curve which gives a bigger 'lightprint' than supercropping or LST. It's hard to discribe the position of fingers and thumb I use, but with a gentle touch, I think you can find your own.

I tried to find netting but couldnt. The chicken wire i found only had 1 inch holes. The 2 inch stuff only came in expensive large rolls. I went to lowes and anouther big building supply store. The price of things have gone way up. The plants are about 4 inches from light. The hood is cooled so i dont think the plants will get burned. Will the plants grow over the light? Or just stop? I could raise the light but would have to cut out anouther shelf in the closet but the house doesnt belong to me. I dont consider this an option. Should i tie or just let go? Still got 45 days to go with these 2 skunk 1 plants. Thanks

Tie them down and also cut out another shelve. Just make sure you replace it just the way you found it. I am very strict to ruining something that is not yours, it gives all us other growers bad names, but I am sure you are handy enough to replace it as it was. I think this is what you will need to do. Just my 2 cents.

I just bent the tops over bout a foot down. Already bending up towards the light. May have to do this again. Its a serious jungle in my closet with only 2 plants. You can see how close they are after bending a foot over. One of the 4 clones made it. Vegging slowly under CFL. Crappy pictures but...you can check my others also.

journeyquest,
I have done it several times. It can be as easy as using a piece of string and duct tape. If the main stem is flexible, loosely tie a piece of string around the top 1/3 of the plant, slowly bend it down and tape the other end of the string to the pot. If the stem is more woody, you may fold the stem in half in wich case I just splinted it with a couple of small bamboo sticks and duct tape. I have always had great success doing it this way and, I think bending them over like that changes the whatever in it and ends up being some solid top and side buds. Here are a couple that I have tied down the way I described above.
