Just curious, as i found a clone that had rooting commin out of it about a 3/8 from the bottom, i remember someone sayin that could be from stem rot..

the stems are about 3 inches under the lid gettin hit with water -

I had that problem when I was running my pump 24/7. The rez temps would climb to high 80's to low 90's from the pump and I had issues from stem rot.

I got a mechanical timer and now run 15 on / 15 off around the clock. I just rooted 6 white widow, 6 K2 & 6 B52's in under 10 days. temps much lower now that the timer cycles 15 / 15.

yea but rooting with a low temp aint very fruitful, can take a month just to get a root or worse.

i have noticed that with the increased heat in my area the roots were taking a little longer to show.. and on some of them the end tips would get brown slimey... not good.
I checked the temps in the rez and it was 85!!!! pathogen city

I religiously clean my cloner after every run. I'll clean with Bleach, Mad Farmer's H2O2 solution, and Bio Clean. Non cleanliness is not the issue with me...

i put the pump on a timer 15 on, 15 off and that was sort of helping, but i was still having the higher than i'd like temps (its been hot in so cal lately!). Then my 4 year old pump died...

I was about to try adding Hydroguard to the rez to help fight the pathogens.... MAYEB THAT HELPS?

I am going to be buying a new pump, and maybe a chiller for the ez rez in the next few days. I have been giving a bubble cloner (gro clone... err the SLOCLONE) a go but its just not as quick and efficient.

Whats your room temp? You could always attach a computer fan to the res, that always helped me.

78-82 day when the sun is out, 70-75 when the moon is out.
lights are on 24/7 in the room...

i have a 6" osciallting fan blowing at the clone station...

how do you hook up a computer fan to cool off a 10g rezervior?

thanks for the link.

I use a lot of cuttings. bubble cloners are weak. they work, but they are slow slow slow and i need results fast fast fast. if that means in the summertime i need to add a chiller to my ez so i can have roots in 5-7, then thats i'll have to do. I'd already settled on adding the chiller for summer time heat.

everything has its plusses and minuses... its what you are willing to work with and thru that gets you to where you want to be.

73-76 is the temp of my water - But i wonder if its the constant water on the stem causing it? or temps just above Normal ?

Water temp is key in clone machines. I had the same problem. After 24 hours the temps were in the high 70's. Had no choice but to change water out every couple of days. I know clones like warmer temps during cloning but too high in the machine = stem rot for sure. So far for me R/O water, Drip&Grow and DynaGro K-L-N @ ph 5.8 and roots in 9 to 10 days. Also I notice my smallest cuts always root first yet still once transplanted to veg stage they still grow slower overall then the late rooters. Anybody experience or noticed this?

Ive had a problem with stem rot with the aero cloner starting on the second run. I ran it for 1 1/2 month straight on a 15m recycler. First run I had good results (not as fast as Id like but good survival), water temp was around 70F.

15 Days later, I started a second run, but I noticed a little brown algae forming on the Pumps rubber romex/insulated cord, so I removed it with a paper towel, but Rooting was delayed, I got roots in 14-20 days instead of the usual 5-12 days. I cleaned it out again with water only and let it dry out.

Third run I ran it but it got hot in the room and when checked on the cloner, there was so much heat in the rubbermaid, I swear it seemed like steam came out when I opened it. I checked temps and itwas around 84F. I kept running it and I got the dreaded BROWN ALGAE. Stems got black and brown. SO i bought SM40 or whatever thats called to kill algae. It did seem like it killed the algae but no roots at all, the root was already rotting. I waited almost 30 days and nothing rooted.
Im just done bleaching the thing inside out, I hope I got rid of it all.

what do you mean by slow? how many weeks is to slow for you? most people say 14days some even 3weeks? im using a bubble cloner for the first time thats why im asking?

well its been 15 days since i put cuttings into the groclone.
04/29.... I now have roots on 3 of the 28.

maybe 2-3 weeks is the norm but i have gotten comfortable with roots in 5-7.

I am gonna dump the cuts in the groclone 5/13 if they aren't fully rooted and i will give it another chance with cuts from another plant... probably the grape romulan.

a foaf has done alot of aerocloning and uses hygrozyme and sm-90 with either clonex or KLN and only has success. foafs buddy sees stem rot because of lazy cuts not taken under water, getting embolisms(which could be saved if u catch the rot soon enough and cut it away). Foaf can go without completely changing out an aerocloner rez for months with proper rez addback strategy. The homemade aerocloner shown has rooted three different batches of clones(Hash Plant) and gone over a month without a rez change(clonex is so expensive). foaf just adds water and diluted flora series nutes every once in awhile. Foaf would add a little hydrogen peroxide to rez if there was algae growth.

i find getting my unit off the floor helped allot too, i put my cloner on 2milk crates, and it seemed to lower the temps 1-2 degrees. i went from losing 25-30% of my clones to only losing 2-3 clones by doing this. crazy the difference 1-2 degrees can make!
