It's an excellent additive. It is Potassium silicate. One of the only additives I would recommend other than calmag plus. Use it carefully as it is very base (high pH) it will spike your pH if you're not very careful how much you add. In hydro I suggest pre-diluting some in a small bottle of distilled water and adding it gradually, a little at a time while monitoring pH in the mixing reservoir. Makes a great pH up substitute over the normal potassium hydroxide folks use.
Silicone is used in most all hydroponics plant physiology labs at the big universities like NC States plant physiology lab and highly recommended for all hydroponically grown plants.
ps... also works great in poop soup mixes like earth juice to control the horribly low pH these kinds of soups tend to have even after they've been aerated thoroughly to raise that low poop soup pH
I have never tried but have been seriously tempted cause Im doing a vert garden. I feel like it would be great for that application. What I have noticed when doing vert is my stems are way thicker than they have ever been i dont know if it due to the strain cause its my first run with her.
silica is great to use as a ph up as well.
1ml/gal will bump the ph up about .5
plus your stems and branches will never have been sturdier.
