i know this may seem like a stupid post but it seems like half the time when someone tries to give me positive reputation, they end up saying thanks or whatever, but then click on the take away rep icon, so if any newbies are wondering the give reputation box is green and the take away is gray, i just wanted to post this because i keep getting negative rep with positive comments, so give/ takeaway as you please

I don't understand the grey/purple mark?

Green is good. Helpful post, positive rating
Red is bad. Negative post, or negative rating

But what is this greyish/purple color that I get every once in a while and how can you even mark someone that color?

What is this?

I don't see a negative to it, but it's not pretty and green like a POSITIVE rating. How and why is this happening?

gray means they Have less than the required posts to give pos or neg rep. It doesnt add or subtract from your overall points... So gray isnt bad... peace n puffs..

I think thats from someone that has no or little post count or new member so they give no points..its like a neutral rep thingy :D

Socal im pretty sure its from people with less then 50 posts

Oh sweet!

I thought it was like a stop light or something! LOL.

You get a green, then a green, then a green, then a green, and if someone decides they want to give you a RED, that it wouldn't appear red just yet, it would go grey and then red if another person neg-repped you. If that makes any sense at all.

But thanks for clearing that up ya'll ! Respect -

Do these neutral reps turn to positive reps once the person who gave them has over 50 posts, or good enough karma?

Negative rep?

Negative rep?

Why am I getting a grey point or negative rep, when in the comment it says "Helpful Answer Positive Rating"? And how can i tell who gave me the rep points?

It will say, just like rep who left it, unless they have unregistered. It is from the Rate post feature and is worth a quarter point, I believe.

Most everyone is using is this post helpful for rep. It so much easier to just push yes or no. I have got more helpful post rep in the last month then the normal kind. People just are not using helpful post what it was meant for.

If you click agree it's automatically positive. Click No, it's negative. Or you could use the rep system (scale icon) and you get to choose pos or neg.
