i'm starting my first grow @ have 10'x14' to work with.i want to have 2 flwr rm's @ a veg/clone rm.i have 10' celings @ pln to grow tree's w/ 600whps in 5gal buckets w/FF OF @ FF nutes.i need a flipr cause i've lived here 13yrs @ my elec has been steady.the extra useage will be bad enough.i wanto eliminate the 12hr spikes.maybe i'm paranoid,but better that than jail,i guess.

The 12hr spikes will be nothing compared to going from a 13 year steady bill to 2 flower rooms, one veg/clone room and growing trees. Maybe ramp it up small to large as you go along. Never saw anyone successfully go big on their first crop.

verite thx for stoping by.i'm not planing on using all that space right off the bat,but i have it when i need it.1st grow is probably going to be 1 600w hps.w/1 400whps verticaly in center of 4 plants (hope i get 4 girls).what problems do you see w/a noobie growing trees instead of short veg to flower? i'm a very quick study @ realize i've plenty to learn,but this ain't rocket science right?my wife is into ceramics @ pottry so i'm going to do some research on kiln's (sizes,amperages@so forth)in case the power co.gets curious.i'been lurking round OG for about a yr @ here since the fall over there.plz.feel free to give any advice you think i need.info is power @ i'm sponge,i'll gladly sook it up.

Using two timers. One to shut power off to the two ballasts. The 2nd Timer will switch from one bulb to the other on each balast.

OK Here's the Logic

Ta=Timer a
Tb=Timer b
Ba=Ballast a
Bb=Ballast b
BaL1=Ballast a Light 1(room A)
BaL2=Ballast a Light 2(room B)
BbL1=Ballast b Light 1(room A)
BbL2=Ballast b Light 2(room B)

Ta runs both Ba and Bb
Ta will be set to cycle twice per day On @12:00 Am Off 11:55 AM ON 12:00 PM OFF 11:55PM
This will give two 5 minute periods when all lights are off.
This 5 minute window is when we will swtch bulbs From L1 to L2

Tb will run 2 relays one for each ballast.
When Tb is off Ballasts will be connected to L1
When Tb is on Ballasts will be connected to L2
Timer B will be set to turn On at 11:57 AM and off at 11:57PM
Notice this switch is done during 5 minute period when all lights are off.

i did not build this i just happen to save the info. in fact im needing one as well so all be building it soon and will do a step by step when i do
i only saved that pic! i wish i would have saved the rest as i forgot what relays where used (the thread was from 2yrs ago and there's no pic's on it any more)
i pm'd the user that put it together and well keep u posted
:woohoo:

i was not good with elect. either man but after building the 240 timer in the post above ( 4 light ) all it's about is making sure the right wire is on the right screw/tremanl the rest is plug n play

Why do people think power companys care how much power you use? The only time you need to worry about the power company is if you are under investigation. Why would a power company care otherwise. Unless your running 200amps+ at a time or stealing power, you should be fine.

Agreed. Pay your bills and the power company should be happy. Of course, I live in Cali and can grow "legally", so I'm not really as concerned as some others, however, I still don't think it's a problem unless you're running 10kw+...

be careful when putting that box together, inexperience can ruin a lot of things

you should try some simple stuff first (timer box or something)

definatly go for it, but take it slow, mistakes can burn your house down.

that be the one :D i have been in pm with him,,,

that was for 2 lights and can easly be upgaded to 4+ if need be just time n money after reading the link "Frozenguy" i see that they run there ballast 24/7 no turn off...so i started a lil research with the help of einestienguy's and it comes to be that they us whats called "softswitch relay's" we are in the mix of disging one like this... no turn off sounds better to me with 2 lights ( 4 bulb's) it probly dont matter but i personly am looking for more 6 ballast & 12 bulb's this would be where a power "spike" might be helped by using a sof switch system like i say all keep u up dated....

I too would like to build one of these also. Not that i have a need for it.......well not yet anyways.I am right into electronics and electrical devices as a hobbie. So a circuit diagram is all i really need to get things going.

You know it surprises me how many people are right afraid of electricity. It's about respect. Respect it and KNOW what your doing and you will be fine.

I am working with a few people on a major undertaking. Wether it developes or not remains to be seen, i will need this knowledge for this project.
