Extra wide mutant bud pics.

So after topping early on my durban seemingly exploded with new growth all over and somtimes the stem splits and becomes two, I think that was what was happening here but it instead became an extra wide bud. See for yourself! I wonder if it will affect yield of that bud. The tops are very early on in flowering as you can see.

lol, you sure you aren't trying to fool us? looks like the main stem was snipped, and two branches are growing into each other to me ;)

Its just extreemly wide! I didnt do anything but top once after 2 nodes.

in any case it looks neat, can you get some closeup side shots that show the stems/base of the top bud (try to keep the leafs from blocking)?

Was thinking I might need to do that, problem is its getting very dense in there and taking anything better than this would risk damage to the bud I think.








Heres a main stem that split early on, most of the branches have split somwhere so far in a wierd narrow Y shape not at nodes... What
I think happened is it tried to split once it had started shooting out flowers so it stopped and just made the bud extra wide.

I just wonder what it is going to be like once its done flowering and all cristalized.

I had one do that a couple of years ago...it's basically the equivalent of a siamese twin. Yield was slightly better than normal, but nothing extraordinary. On mine, the buds started growing apart after a few weeks, but it looks like you're already past the stretch, so they may stay together.

What strain is that? Seems like I've seen it before with BOG stuff :confused:

Its the only seed I got to sprout out of a pack of durban from dutch passion, they claim its pure sativa IBL but I dont know about that now lol.

That looks about as far away from a pure sativa IBL as I can imagine...:)

Very cool bud though - someone else had some pics of one of those a while ago... :chin:

Ive seen that on this boards one before, ended turnin into one large catepillar type bud. it was one freak of a bud when it was all done and chopped.

I get them kinds of mutants on a few older strains I have. When I have carefully trimmed the bud away I found the main stalk to a flat ribbon like thing. I had one make a nice tongue shape once.

I over ferted a bit (1/4 tsp, stuff I use is strong!) and its recovering with plain old water now after a good flushing, still looks healthy and is fine up top but the lower leaves are a bit burnt.

I think its only semi accurate to call this a mutation, its probably not new its just wierd genetics that manifested themselves after topping and a heavy nute regimine, I'm not seeing split stems yet in the clone.

Might look cool but its far from better. The bud doesnt end up that tasty. Heres that one of mine.
