Hi, quick question.

I just got some Fox Farm ocean Forest. And Im wondering how many people have good results if they dont mix in anything else?

What are the benefits of mixing things like lime and perlite?

Thanks

Add 25% perlite and work the sides of the soil down with your hands a few days after the first watering to loosen up the soil. If you are only going to veg for a few weeks, you shouldn't need anything else until flower.

Lime helps stabilize your PH later on in flowering and the Perlite adds the ability to breathe more in the mix.

That being said I add 10 cups of Earthworm Castings and 1.5 cups of dolemite lime to a bag and results have been fantastic.

When I did not add lime I would get nutrient lockouts later in flowering and plants were physically ugly.

After adding the castings the leaves stay green a lot longer, almost throughout flower cycle, than without.

word mojo rising.

Forgot to mention I do add an entire bag of Perlite from the depot in the mix as well.

You know I 've had mixed results with FoxFarm soils. Sometimes my plants really like it , other times They don't do very well in it.I always wondered how much consistency there is from one bag to the next, as far as nute wise ,amount of perlite, ect. As of late I am looking for an alternative soil, FF soil is very exspensive where I live , and since I don't re-use my soil, it just isn't economicly feesable any longer. Take Strech puppies advice though as I think this may have something to do with some problems I'm having with this soil.anyway...goodluck. :joint:

For the $24 for a bag of Ocean Forest - Grows MANY ounces of bud.

I can't afford NOT to use it.

FFOF, 20% perlite, 2 tbls per gallon lime or 1 teaspoon of powdered dolomite lime sprinkled on top before watering...

thats all you have to do to get some yummy buds. FFOF should feed for 30 days... but always let your plants tell you how long the soil fed them before using nutes...

Yeah, add like 15% to 30% perlite...

I add the lime as well. But both these things are easily gotten anywhere so you should do it.

Ever since I did the plants love the FFOF.

Dont trust the oyster shell to keep ph up during flower,1 tbls of dolomite per gallon soil mix is necessary

Well i havnt yet planted any seeds into this mix...

But i got the following at the hydro store:

Hygrozyme ( no freaking idea what it is... it was expensive as hell... and the guy at the store told me it was great for enyzme something... and i should get it )

Then Super Tea Mix that is from the Guano Company

It has Earthworm Casings, Bat and Seabird, Guano in it...
The numbers on it is 5-5-1

Then of course i add my perlite to it...

Is this a good mix for seedlings... i see these people do hydro, and other setups, and there plants are the size of mine in like 1 day... and mine have been growing for 3 weeks ;)

FF Ocean Forest Soil...

FF Ocean Forest Soil...

Hi All ! Ocean Forest is OK, but......not by itself.....just finishing a test of this soil after 2 months....8 different combinations were put into 1 gal containers.....container#1= 100% FF/Ocean Forest with 2 tbs lime & 1 tsp water crystals......container#2= 80% FF/Ocean Forest & 20% SuperSoil......
container#3= 50% FF/Ocean Forest & 50% SuperSoil.....container#4= 100%
SuperSoil......these above had no ferts added....
Container#5= 100% FF/Ocean Forest + dry ferts
Container#6= 80% FF/Ocean Forest & 20% SuperSoil + dry ferts
Container#7= 50% FF/Ocean Forest & 50% SuperSoil + dry ferts
Container#8= 100% SuperSoil + dry ferts

Dry ferts=(veg--Blood meal,Bone meal,Kelp meal,Worm castings,dolimite lime)
above 1 tbs of each, but lime 2 tbs, mix and add to 1 gal of soil.....

Dry ferts=(flower--Blood meal,bone meal,kelp meal,worm castings,lime,Jam/bat
mex/bat,greensand,softrockphos,fish meal,rock dust=trace,and sul-po-mag)
above 1 tbs of each, but the lime 2 tbs...mix and add to 1 gal soil.....

Then the water is PH-6.5, then add liquid activators,enzymes,microbes,stimulators.....etc etc....then PH again to 6.5
then pour on the new soil mix....and BAMM!!! and the beanstalk....LOL!!!
the newest thing to try is POT OF GOLD...this stuff WORKS !!!!!

Yo,,, Santa,,, if your garden is healthy - you will do better if you don't compare size -

Especially just starting up - - next thing your thinking it needs ferts orr something - and --well it usually ain't pretty.

Steady as she goes - slower can be a good thing - healthy is the goal.

We're rootin for ya.

PS,,,, It's a well know fact, a good supply of elf and midget porn can improve both morale and the grow room. hehehehe

and don't believe evey thing the hydro store guy says - he's paid on commision.
