1X1000Watts with Light Mover in 4'X8'???

Has anyone tried this? Any success? Any experience growers think it'll work? Trying to get the yield of 2x1000 with only 1 light. Running a single 1000 watt HPS on a 6' long light mover, rotate plants daily or every couple of days. Space will be 4X8X7.5. Hydro, Eb and Flow. Homemade grow room. Sealed with CO2. Any input? Thanks.

trial and error is the name of the game. all you can do is try it and see what happeneds in my opinion.

I run the same space with 2 Ks, and I think you could do it with indicas, shorties. Yield would be less I think but it would work. My sativas would not like it, they would come out light in weight and stone.

i'm currently in the middle of a grow using a 1k agro sun gold mh on a light rail in a 4ft.w x 8ft. l room.not hydro though,my own organic mix.i think movers are great.i wonder why more peeps dont use em'.the mover only uses 15 watts so quite the savings over running another light.heres afew shots at 3.5 weeks into flower.see ya.

Looks great canniption. How do the buds compare to previous grows you've done with more light? Are they dense? Indica or sativas? Thanks bro.

in that second pic it looks like the plants are tilting to face the moving light

that is awsome!

hello letusc, thanks.this is my second grow with the light rail, the buds are just as dense imo.i do a mix of sat/indi's,mostly indicas.i have a 10 rpm rail that moves a bit faster.i,m only using 5ft of the rail due to space limits.it was tricky figuring the lag time at the ends, but 15 sec. seem to do the trick.hope this helps ya.later

I can only speak from experience a VERY long time ago. However, I once used a single 1k on a mover in a room wit no other lights(6ft mover 3x6 tray). The result was poor as far as yield is concerned. However, I think with more than one light in the room the result would be better. For instance if you had two 3x6 trays side by side and had the movers keep the lights at opposite ends i bet it would be great! Obviously Blunt has it down but IMO yield always ultimately suffers...

dude ive done a 1k on a light mover over a 4x8 table bottom line just not enough light... 2k at least for a 4x8 good luck but u will find that yuour shit is light and fluffy and half of what i should be....

im telling you right now guys its just not enough i have bought 6 light movers and now i use none.... if that tell u anything.... you can use 2 1k on a 4x8 table and its kool can lower the light and run them oppisite ends but other then that a light mover will NEVER make up for another light NEVER...

I normally ran 2 pro ultras 600's over that space for at least a dozen grows, best result was 40 oz, i see no reason for a steady 30 oz plus if you maintain rotation off the 1000, i normally only run my 1000 4x6 but as already posted you could stretch it that far with right strain.

I run a 1000w on a mover in a 3 x 6.5' room--I don't know that I would push it beyond that. My girls seem to like that 50w/sq ft.

I have grown many ways and I find I get the best yield by far doing it vertical. I have never used a light rail but have always wondered how well they would perform. I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I'll try the question anyway. Just a ruff estimate from anyone with experience using this type of hardware would suffice.

What would the difference in yield be between using 1 - 1000 watt HPS with enough clones to fill it's light spread and then comparing it to 1 - 1000 watt HPS using a light rail with the same clones and double the amount of plants grown all under the same conditions, nutrients ect.?

Hope that made sense - and if its a silly question just let me know. I am not really with it right now - meds kicked in and I had a few beers which is a no no, not to mention a nice fat dubey.

If anyone can answer this question I would have a much better idea of what to expect from a light rail.

Go for it!

Go for it!

It's not going to out produce 2 lights but it will out produce one light setting still. Mine did anyway. I'm gonna tell ya right now tho, the hardest part is going ta be keepin the damn ducting for the air cooled light outa the fucking plants! lol I used a retractable dog leash fer awhile until I found this retractable clothsline thing that worked great.... Bottom line, Imo it's worth it. Best of luck. Take care...BC

Finally a use for those retractable clotheslines I bought a while back.....Thanks, I've been using elastic from the arts and crafts store. :p

I use a Light Rail 5 with 3000 watts MH for veg and it works really good for veg. I have done this for flowering also... but using HPS. Lets just say I was able to increase my plant numbers by a few and extended the area out a bit more but it didn't increase the yield so much. Yes there was a slight increase in yield but IMO movers are only good for veg to cut down on the lights needed for a particular space. It made them stretch a little too much during the first 3 weeks of flowering. So I use the rail for veg 3k and for flowering I setup 4k stationary. Stationary is better for flowering but if you can't get another light for flowering then use the rail. It wont hurt but you might have to do less plants to get those solid buds with less stretching.

I was about to post but I pretty much had the exact same experience as you with the light movers...slight increase in useable footprint but only slight, and plants near edges suffer. I think the light mover is great for veg, but for flower, it is only marginally useful. If you still had 1kw per 4x4 area and had em on movers that might be good, if you could figure out how to make the light footprint work, but from my experience the flowers on the end plants end up premature even if left on a 60 second delay if you have multiple lights on a mover.
