Police recovered more than 2,000 pot plants and 86 pounds of marijuana Tuesday evening from a massive grow operating under the guise of a medical marijuana collective.

Yet police didn’t make any arrests. They say they just want to bring the operation into compliance with state laws.

Neighbors complained to authorities about an “overwhelming smell” coming from a large pot grow, according to Seattle police reports.

Police served a search warrant Tuesday night at a home and a warehouse in West Seattle and a house on Beacon Hill. There, they found what detectives called an “unprecedented” volume of illegally-grown pot plants, reports say.

The grow was allegedly part of a medical marijuana collective, but far exceeded the 45 plants allowed by state law.

It was “the largest illegal marijuana grow operation (detectives) can recall investigating,” according to Seattle police.

The Beacon Hill house connected to the grow is located in the 2400 block of South Morgan Street. The West Seattle house is in the 6500 block of 44th Avenue Southwest, while the warehouse is located in the 2600 block of Southwest Yancy Street, according to Seattle police.

The warehouse contained more than 2,200 plants, while the houses contained 206 and 227 plants.

Police seized 2,663 plants and 86 pounds of processed pot.

They also suspect the grow operation’s owner sold harvested pot through a dispensary he owns, which also breaks state law on collective gardens.

Officers left 45 marijuana plants at each location, as well as 72 ounces of processed marijuana, allowing each site’s growers to pick which plants they wanted to keep.

The Seattle Police Department said detectives only wanted to bring the operation into compliance. They didn’t book anyone involved into jail.

Thats tight they didn't book anyone...thats how it should be.

Dudes got greedy...

Find it hard to believe they raid THREE places based on a smell complaint from one place. I thought smell wasn't enough probable cause in legal states?

They didn't book/arrest anyone and they let them choose which 45 plants to keep at each location. Not bad.

I didn't like that the stuff was being sold through a dispensary. That's not right.

It's nice to see no one was arrested, that's how it should be.

I still think plant number restrictions are total bullshit, there is so many ways to grow to achieve the same final product, you could grow 100 small plants to equal the same as 10 big ones.

That's just crazy. And here on the east coast I watched a guy get hauled off last night for a gram.

Sounds like they got lucky this time. Wonder what would happen if caught again?

Actually awesome news the law only took them down into compliance......I see this as positive news :tiphat:

And to waste any time and resources by taking someone to jail for a gram is a shame............but still a reality in many of the states.

This is the kind of thing that causes social experiments like State Legalized Marijuana to fail. The more often it happens the more likely legalization will fail. It's cool that the policed are being pretty cool about it but that's because it's all new ground to cover for everyone involved. Eventually they'll not be so nice if people keep trying to push the envelope. But for crying out loud, if you are growing that much weed invest in some carbon filters.

Amazing.. They didn't take EVERYTHING!? They left plants so THEY (the growers) could choose what to keep... wow... man.. Times are a changin'! I agree that the plant numbers are bs too.. You pop 12 seeds to find 2 maybe 3 keepers... You run a cloner with 30 clones to keep 16... or whatever.. laws should keep the legal plant #'s based on plants in flowering!?... well until the day we can grow as many as we want!!!! Peace~ DJSF
