Does anyone have an opinion of Riverside ( canyon crest? ), Temecula?

We are considering a move from So Fla and concerns as to how the dry and the cold in southern california will effect my degenerative disc disease as it's the opposite of here which is humid and hot.

Riverside.
Ahhhhhhhhhh
How I miss theee....

that brown haze... smog...

From what I recall it got pretty fucking hot and humid. Its a desert thats been remodeled!
Not FLA hummid where you need to shower every 5 min, but when its 105f....

If you have a pool and dont need to drive anywhere except locally, then shouldnt be a problem. but anytime you need to drive... enjoy.

be careful

enjoy in n out & del taco.
I wish i could.....

Could it be a place to retire ?

Traffic is not a biggy, we work from home. Want to be in a suburban setting with trees.

I would recommend Fallbrook. North San Diego County. Smaller town vibe. Lots of trees, groves, rolling hills. Perfect climate for greenhouse. Lots of nice property for retirement lifestyle, yet still close enough to everything. Good luck in your searches.

I lived in the LA area for quite a few years. California is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, amazing weather, amazing women, but it's soooo crowded and soooo expensive I had to get out. The traffic was really the deal breaker for me. Money, crowds, etc. aren't a problem for you then more power to you.

Personally, I'm not looking to retire anywhere near the continental United States. I'm researching more tropical destinations. This is the last place I want to be when unemployment hits 20-30%.

Good recommendation! I hadn't really thought about North County, but yeah, it's very nice out there.

Tudo, if clean air is what you need, you'll have to get out to the ocean or up into the mountains, and the Sierra would be preferable over the San Gabriels, especially for the smog issues.

Retirement to me =

clean air
good shopping nearby
hardly any traffic
trees and mountains close by
good medical facilities close by
excellent lakes, rivers, beaches, outdoor opportunities
4 seasons of weather...with moderate temperature's ....no snow
reasonable housing costs
Good community ....no gangs....pride of ownership

just a few of the things I think of ....will add more later....I need another cup of coffee

I also am not a fan of that whole IE area......Diamond Bar....yes if I have to be so cal....but I would never retire in So Cal.....there are just so many better areas to choose from.

Weeddaddy... I'm not sure where you'll get all that, especially if you want trees and mountains close by along with good shopping and medical facilities. In an emergency I know our closest hospital is 15mins away.

In fact, reading what you've written, where I live fulfills all the requirements except for good shopping close by. We go to Folsom for that.

Ew.. Riverside.. hahaha... See if you can get near Monterey. I love the Santa Cruz area and I REALLY love the area south of Santa Cruz / Monterey area. Very liberal on cannabis too.. VERY beautiful..

I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains.....awesome place to live....

use to go get a togo's sandwich and hit the beach...or got to steamers and watch the surfers....or body surf at some of the local spots.

There are many great spots in Cali.....Riverside is not one of them.

It's getting tough to stay in CA...... Just sayin.

alternatively, you could go to a college town, like Chico,CA.

I live in Chico, CA and it`s nice up here, especially during the spring. Plenty of mountains to climb, nature to enjoy. You can get into Paradise/Chico area for about $400 per month. They are liberal on cannabis too if you are medical. The county limits are low for growing but that`s ok unless you are planning something commercial. If you are, stay out of Butte county. :)

get ready for the entitlement folks...they are running our once lovely state in the ground...not much left here worth anything, business are moving out, folks are moving out for various reasons...if you do come here, good luck....

Probably almost exactly like where you are now.

People like to talk up their location as interesting and unique whether they like or dislike it. Truth is 2013 Western Civilization has been materialized to the point of a horror show.

If your financial situation doesn't change your life probably won't no matter where you go. That's cold but it's true. The weather is different, more gangs, this is all shit u can google though. There is very little that is truly unique about anywhere in the US. They have Pepsi and McDonalds and Audi dealers eveywhere.

The only reason I can think of that a non-native Californian should want to come here is for the diversity in climate. We have climates for just about every taste here in CA. Other than that, unless you're rich, do yourself a favor and stay where you are or pick a more economical place. Oh yeah, there are a bunch of worthless do nothing P's.O.S. here too...got those where you live?

80-90% of the growers that come here without connections are gone within 2 years.

Equipment for sale on Craigslist is a good indicator.

Here: A NorCal Town once quite alive around November (hint-hint) is dead. Stores closing daily. Vacant storefronts even in the nicer Downtown areas.

Deluded Landlords demanding that You help them make money with their land (not thru pot)- if you want to rent that Dilapidated Shack that sits 5 feet from Their house (NO GROWING ALLOWED) for top dollar. Desperado Mufuggahs willing to do anything to anyone to keep their broken-down properties from going back to the Bank - are becoming the Norm. I am hearing a lot of stories .. The sort that make You say, "What the Hell am I doing Here..?"

I took the Damn Bull By the Horns again.... Don't get frustrated, Take a walk on the Haul Road over the ocean today with an Old REAL friend (found one), and You'd want to stay too.. Amazing.

We compared notes, and I decided to truly live for the moment, and let the Universe take care of itself. Reckless, Yes, but why not..? Sometimes, it actually works. Helps to know the flower room is more than half done..!

Even though it feels like the Motor City in the early 80's in this Once thriving Logging Town - I am going to try to adapt to the rotten market. Not talking about it now, but You Guys will hear about it later.
