Starting to look rather like a case of entrapment.

I have had two family members over there be approached under rather dubious circumstances, one of whom was burnt.

Indonesia and Bali laws are full of entrapement for alot of tourists, its exactly why i will never travel there. Oh but its ok for locals to sell incestuous sex and sell their sisters on the streets, full of underagers and illicit drugs on every corner but hey, as soon as its the tourist who has even a speck of pot they lock you up, fucking bullshit, don't know why people still go there, especially after the bombings on aussies. let them have there fucked up paradise.DONT GO THERE.

I agree Leeroy, I went there some time back. Openly offered drugs, women or whatever. I was aware of the situation and did not partake and had a good time...nice people. But like anywhere the temptations are there...a bit to much for a naive 14 year old.

And you can get set up. Asia is famous for it.

What's worse is that some Australian's are saying he should be locked up like Corby. Kids make mistakes especially 14 year olds; god knows I made my fair share at that age.

A reminder that all over South East Asia this sort of entrapment is commonplace. This one made it to the press, which was probably not the intention of the arresting officers, but many many many many more go unreported. If you can't resist the temptation, you shouldn't go, because 9 times out of 10 - it's a trap!

I dont think they are any better than us or vice versa wilbur. assholes r everywhere, and revenge for what btw? I think any country that thinks people deserve being entrapped and isolated is down right wrong.

yeah boom they made a huge difference to the war on drugs eh?. wilbur i get now the reference to your post on most white people who go there doing dubious things are being revenged upon, but not all white tourists who go there are bad, but seriously a 14yr old? and how far does revenge go... you dont think they are doing worse to their own people and family? an eye for an eye leaves the world blind man, the persecution on pot is ridiculous.

Bali, in my opinion, has a different mindset and mentality than the rest of her 'parent' Indonesia. They're Hindu, for one thing, while the entire rest of the country comprises the largest Muslim nation on earth. And the Balinese are targeted for that. However, their island is also the best money-maker for the government, due in large part to the very fact that the natives are not Muslim, and as Hindus are far more accepting, even of the incredibly egregious behavior I personally have seen exhibited by foreigners.

On our last trip there my husband witnessed an English woman SLAP a fully grown man for breaking a few eggs (she was a dive boat operator) as she yelled at him and called him 'boy.' The rudeness we've both seen exhibited by some German guests at the resort where we prefer to stay can be mind-boggling to me, they clearly do not see the Balinese as people.

I have a strong feeling that, were the Balinese able to have a greater degree of control over their own little island, this boy wouldn't have been targeted.

All that said, I'm American and not many of us go to these islands, and when we went we took our teenaged children. They knew the score as far as the legal stuff goes, and we made sure they knew it well. Apparently, not so much with this kid.

Mad is not the word for me man....I always wanted to travel to Bali since i was a child. but now as an adult Ive warched them do many things that make me want to litterally vomit, i will never travel there in a million years, either will anyone in my family.

I hate to say it, but ive come to almost hate the mere name of the place, the muslims that bombed us there helped push that deeper...and once that was done, the light of kindness towards muslims and indonesia ended in me.

After we have suffered in their country they should be lucky any one still goes there at all and shut down their tourist trade. see how they like it then.money hungry child slave sex fiends and terrorists.And thats just starting with the law officials and politicians....let alone the corrupt cops and dodgy street dealers and kids being paid to set stupid tourists up.

I put them in the same category as that bloke named after a rubbish vessell, and all of the terrorists that follow him, since half of them that live there in Bali are extremist muslims just itching to fuck the white man over and in this case boy.


They are so worried about a 14yr old boy with 7grams of weed and are going to lock him up for the rest of what should be the best years to come.... but turn a blind eye to the boys and girls forced into selling sex and drugs on their streets? and let their pimps walk free every day? yeah nice one Bali.


Bali lures people there with cheap this and cheap that and pretty this and pretty that, then after your cheap shopping and good surfing and quick little massage, you can get stitched up and framed in a second that will last a lifetime in thier hell holes. oh what a holliday.

The place should be on national boycott. Out of principle to the people that died there and get locked up there, no Aussie should invest their money into those pricks..

Glad I'm not Aussie, then. We have personal friends, of Balinese extraction, on the island. They (every villager I have ever met) view Muslims with a great deal of hatred, and frankly I'm surprised you don't know this. Do you only ever go to the tourist areas, then?

Of course, I also live in a country that tries juveniles as adults and has no issue handing out life sentences. Perhaps that gives some perspective.
