Can someone help me connect this fan (12v=dc 1.30A) to my pcu unit, the cables have different colours than all the guides i could find.. I got some pictures below.. Everything is done except the fact that i dont know the wire combination, I included pictures of the other cables aswell just incase
here ya go this explains it better then I could. ...ya have to jumper some wires to get power out of it.
edit: looks like he doesn't mention that the yellow is a 12v lead and the red is a 5v lead...so if you want to underpower your fans at 5v you can use the red/black combo instead of the yellow/black combo. also scrubninja has a great thread on wiring up pc fans....somewhere.. can't find it atm.
I've already read that guide...I know what to do, I just dont know how the 4 fan wires should connect with the other 4, I tried A combination the other day and some sparkles appeard... im really not into experimenting with electricity..
in the 3rd pic is your molex connector, this is what should hold your 12v+ (white?) 5v+(red) and the 2 blacks are your negative. So there's your yellow/black and red/black combo I was talking about. I want to make it clear that I'm not 100% positive on this wiring because of the white wire which is normally yellow, I'm assuming you're in another country. But! I am going to assume that the white is the yellow and = 12v+ wire.
You can look on top of the power supply and it should have the wiring schematic thing, and you should to make sure I'm right!
If you have an extra female molex connector that you can plug into the supply then use it, it makes it easier to disconnect the fan later. other wise cut off that second molex plug ( the one you're touching in the pic) cut it right at the plug so you have some wire to work with of course. then connect like so.
in both pics it shows the 12v lead used to run the fan at full power, as I said you can swap the yellow with red to run it at 5v and make the fan quieter. or run a second fan off of it too...one at 12v one at 5v.
good luck, i'll keep an eye on this thread to make sure you get it running asap.
I spoze I should add a disclaimer. I'm not an electrician, and I do not guarantee that this will not burn your house down...but I've had mine running like in that pic 24/7 for over a year now with no problems although I use a different powersource. Make sure to cover all wires properly!! don't do like I did in the pic and use just electrical tape! grow conditions create humidity and temperature fluctuations which will make that tape really loose over time. I highly recommend that you use use wire shrink wrap stuff!! That pic is one of my only connects I have like that..everything else is shrinkwrapped!!
its cool man, im glad you got the problem solved.
umm for nextime...
they do make 120v fans of the same size/type...
think there the panasonic "panaflow' .....
