NorthernKronic's 2k Basement Blowout

To be perfectly honest I feel that some plants stretch less once they get to a certain size. The real problem that I had was I chose to veg them for almost 2.5 weeks under the 1k hps after already vegging four 7 weeks under a 400.. Didnt have a choice, but I would have done it differently if I could have. Im interested to see what you do about those four footers.. Those will def end up being 6ft plus prolly almost 6.5-7ft..

These went under 1k feb 2 and as they grew i turned on antoehr light to 2k. So almost 3 months. The 15 gallon one is 3 months.

It'll take a miricle :D

Anyways, how do you like the rope ratchets on your lights? I have 2 stanley blowers... best value ever ;)

Damn man.. Good luck with that, those are going to be some MONSTERS!!! I will probably never use anything other than chains and the rope ratchets ever again, and the only reason I need chains is so I can get than extra inch closer to the ceiling because its too damn low in this basement lol. But In any case I would def recommend them, but make sure you dont get the larger carbon filter ones that come in a one pack rather than a two pack, I almost made that mistake and the guy at the hydro store knew what I wanted and hooked me up with the right ones.

Hey yall:wave:

Took a couple pics while I was downstairs tonight because I know I am due for an update. The garden is doing quite well but I am having a couple of problems.

My temps are great low of 65 high of 75, actually ive never had better temps. I've added two blower fans that circulate directly throughout the canopy because with the size of the buds I have growing I know mold can develop quickly. I am having a really hard time getting my RH to fall below like 48% right now. It never gets higher than 51% but realistically I want it somewhere around 35%.

I know this problem is happening because I am not currently exhausting any air out of the basement, just recirculating it. I plan on buying a can100 carbon filter and an 8" vortex to use in the garden blowing though the lights. The real reason I need that is because I want to use my current 6" and can 66 to exhaust air out of a hole in my chimney. Here are some pics of the access door to the chimney.
picture.php

picture.php

It's hinged on the left hand side and pinned in on the right. Im pretty sure I can remove the plate easily and then pop a piece of plywood with a 6" hole and flange. Once I get this hooked up to the 6"vortex I think I will be a lot better off as far as humidity and temp go. Does anyone know if this could cause any unwanted backdraft on my furnace or hotwater heater that are venting into the chimney above where this vent/plate is located. Im pretty sure it used to be the exhaust port for the old incinerator that was located in the basement so that is my basis for not worrying too much about venting though it.

Does anyone have any idea if what im planning on is safe? The few friends I have talked to about this said I dont have anything to worry about but I figured I would ask you guys since growers have done just about everything to vent/cool their grows.

I just snapped one pic of the veg closet tonight. There are only 5 plants in there one of each strain: Sativa CT(sweeter frutier scent), Indica CT(lemony scent), Pollen Chuck, Mongrul (larger sister, not the one in the pics later) and a Trainwreck x WW. They just got transplanted like 4 days ago into my amended soil-less mix. I love this mix because the plants just do so well in it. By the time I transplant my clones from the cups they start in they are usually lacking in nutes and starting to show it. But after a week in this soil they always look a lot better.

Here is the flower room, getting fatter by the day. The group of 10 PC's in the 1.6 gallon pots are on day 31 of flower today. The larger older plants on on day 38. First up are all of the PC's. You can see that she likes to put out a big main cola, some of these are over 14" long!

This was an attempt to show you guys the Indica CT pheno, she puts out super big dense nuggets that are just oozing with lemony goodness. I will pull one out next time to show you better.

Dr.Dog- Thanks for stopping through man. Yea the mongrul is looking great. The pictured pheno is maturing the fastest. She will be done around 55 days it looks like. The larger mongrul sister that I saved has much larger buds. I really need to take those closeups when I get my camera back..

Vermonster-Thanks for that and thanks for stopping though

Well my cam is at my ladys place so I wont be able to take pics for a day or two. I will do an update once I have them. Peace yall.

Well, doesnt seem like anyone is watching anymore, so I guess this post is more for posterity and time keeping than really updating.. Dont have any pics at the moment because I dont have a cam of my own.. But when I get one in the next week I will post up something so anyone watching can check it out.

Ended up getting my new fan and filter all setup last night but ran into a bunch of unforseen problems. I made an 8" exhaust vent going into the bottom of my chimney where an old incinerator used to exhaust. When I had only my 6" vortex exhausting up it I really didnt have any problems. I added an 8"Y onto the chimney so that I could vent both the lights and the rest room at one time with one exhaust hole (6"fan + 8" Fan). As soon as I have it all hooked up and I finally hit the power on the 8" vortex, I start seeing a bunch of soot and dirt flying out of my furnace.

Ughh I was fucking pissed, basically when the builder or appliance guy installed the furnace and water heater they were too lazy to use an elbow piece up into the furnace (as to avoid any type of back draft by aiming their exhaust up the chimney) instead they just cut a hole in the chimney and stuck the exhaust pipe in there.

The more that I sit here and think about it I know why they didnt point put an elbow in there an point them strait up, because they would probably collect any rain or water that fell down the chimney and it would fall with gravity back into the furnace or water heater.... So fuck idk what im supposed to do.

I decided to change out my 6" fan and filter that were blowing though the lights for the 8". I have it dialed down with a fan controller so that now im not blowing nearly as much air up the chimney and im not having any backflow problems.. But I know once the real summer heat comes Im going to need to be able to use both fans full blast for exhausting the basement.

Do you guys think this will be a problem once the furnace is off for the summer? Ugh, Idk what to do I have it working for now but its pretty ghetto. Thanks to anyone who wants to help or is just reading along.. Peace yall.

Hey yall,

I know this hasnt been much of a thread, because of my lack of updates, but sometimes life gets busy and I have to apologize. I am still in the middle of harvesting, I have 9 of 19 chopped with 6 of them still up drying. Some of them got really huge, others stayed pretty small. I think yields will be all over the place, but thats because I really didnt plan well for this run, it just came together as is... Hopefully next run will be a lot more uniform. I plan on doing 6 plants in 5 gallon hempy's per light. I really like the hempy buckets, they gave me the little extra leway that I needed with the really big plants that I didnt have when I did straight soil-less in 8 gallon pots.

But anyway I will get to the pics, because if there is anyone still watching this is what you came for!!

First up is the small mongrul. She ended up yielding less than 2oz's which was about what I expected. She will not be run again even though her bud is pretty good..

These are what she looked like after the trim..

This is the larger (and the keeper) pheno of mongrul. She was frostier, denser and larger than her sister. Yield was 3.8oz's. Pretty good, but would have been better with a uniform training. Check her out.

Alright, next up is the largest plant that I have most likely ever grown. This is the sativa pheno of crash test that was just about 5'9" when the stems could hold the buds weight.

Now we have the first of three Indica pheno crash test. I let these go 65 days, 5 longer than the sativa pheno. This baby has some gigantic buds and luckily I was able to keep them mold free this time with two dehueys and the new 8" vortex. I will update on the yield once they are jarred..

Now were on to the new kid in the class. This is the TWxWW, she really filled in nicely over the last two weeks of flush. Her buds filled in really well and I am super excited to finally get to try her out. I think I will do quite a few of her next round:dance013:

Well I still have 10 2 gallon pollen chucks to come down this weekend, and then once those are all taken care of I will take clones for the next round. I will update again this weekend when I take down the 10 PC's. Hope everyone has a great memorial day weekend. Peace yall..

BroughtSuperior- Thanks for stopping in. Yes the diary will be back up and running full speed again in just more than a month. She will be out of my house and I will have a brand new camera with which to journal my grows. Ive been really lazy about my favorite hobby for a long ass time. Now its all I really have to focus on, so I want it to be up to my old standards.

SIR- Hey buddy, yea idk been really depressed about the whole situation for the last couple months. Basically all my fault that we are breaking up, but I need to learn how to be happy on my own and not have my happiness depend on another person (which it has been for over 4 years..) So idk, im trying to stay positive and look for the good things in my life. My grow has been that for a long time but its been neglected now since im not really staying at the house all that often. I still stop by once a day to take care of things over there, but its just not the same as getting to spend all the time I need down there in the basement. Im reading your thread right now, damn son really picked up your game (Mini-split (my dream) and CO2) cant wait till I have a permanant residence and can do all that I know I need to. Cant wait till I can catch up fully and really show you guys that I did at one time grow some serious flame and that I can continue to do it and progress. Anyway, thanks for stopping by homie, its really good to hear from you:wave:

SWEbigbang- Yea i mean its really hard to know what your going to yeild off of your grow unless you have grown those exact strains in those exact conditions previously. On that particular run (the one at the top of this page) I yeilded just over 2lbs under 2000w. I am now running a perpetual, harvesting one light each month. With my mongrul and crash test phenos, I am pulling just over a # per month.

Thanks to all for stopping through, cant wait till this place is banging again :headbange

Peace
