Well I'm not sure of the cost vs benefit.
I do know that you can actually make your own dry ice with a machine for under $200.
I've seen them for under $100 also.
It may be a smart long term investment.

YO had same problem sorted now ,diagram above , with the same measures but doubled it up into 4x5litre bottles for my room which is 6ft by 8ft and checked my ppm with test kit and it reading 1350ppm which i dont think is bad for a very cheap homemade piece of kit ,long as i use same measures should be fine note produced more co2 with brown sugar ,dont know why ,if someone would like to give an answer great .So leotriboo get yourself a co2 test kit and try different amounts $ 20 should do it

This system just runs passively 24/7? Will this work when room/cab is being vented outside?

I run 3 hydrohuts as flower rooms and this would be a cheap set up for all 3.

I used to make homemade wine. The recipe was,5 gallons of water,7 1/2 punds of sugar and 1 pack wine yeast.I would get strong fermentation for about two weeks. As you all know yeast eats sugar, burps CO2,and "pees"alcohol. In theory,if you keep adding small amounts of sugar over time the yeast should live a really long time. The problem is that yeast cannot live in high concentrations of alcohol, they start do die off at around 12%.
Add 10 cans of Welches frozen grape juice to the above recipe and you can drink it after a couple weeks. Not very good, but it works.:):)

Problem is if you're exhausting air out of the grow room there's a good chance the CO2 level would not build up sufficiently to make this worthwhile.
