When do the flowers really start to smell??

I have a friend growing big bang, lsd, white rhino, and skunk special. He is 4 weeks into flower and the flower smell is just kinda fruit smelling. Is this normal? He is happy because he does not have to worry about smell issues. Will this change?? Will he have smell issues in the future?? I am curious because I am growing a couple of the same strains an I am only in the beginning of veg.

I can't comment specifically on those strains, but yes, he should definitely worry about smells in the future. They might only smell somewhat fruity now, but give it a few weeks and I can promise you they will be stinky. Even my least stinky buds stunk up the room they were vented into.

If discretion is key, carbon scrubbers are a must.

Hey thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated.

Smell is smell. It may not smell like "weed" yet but, any strong odor will raise questions. Questions bad.

mine are also fruity smelling at about 4 weeks of flower - after that it starts smelling like someone put a family of skunks in a blender and sprayed it in a super soaker!

Ok sticky and freezer. I see where this is headed. I will let him know and I will prepare myself for the situation as well. They just smell sooooo fruity. It seems they are harmless. HA HA HA.

I've always worried about this myself since I usually run NO filter at all. I vent out the bottom of the trailer and my yard is full of plants I bought specifically to cover up or blend the smell. If I get a stinky one I simply add my odor-sok inline as the fan pulls the bad air out and walla.

What I've found is: Odor can very a lot even within females from the same batch of seeds. I am currently flowering some and 2 of them if I touch them in anyway stink up the entire room/house almost. If I cut on them, peeuuwwwee.. but the one I"m keeping of the 4 is sweet smelling almost like Lemon berries. Some strains, Like Skunk #1 or AK47 are worse then others for high odor. You'll find if you move them or touch them odor goes way up. Rubbing the stem is a good way to test smell.

I don't know how some guys get away without carbon filters. My first grow wasn't even in flower mode yet when a family member told me I better contain that smell somehow. And this person couldn't smell a damn thing to save their life.

I had an odor issue once. To be honest, Bag seed was the stinkiest stuff I've grown.
