Absolute simplest cloning method

I am moving into a new place and I want to start a grow. For my first couple runs I plan on doing something very micro, one to two plants from seed just to get the jist of it. Eventually I want to get a perpetual thing going so I can always have smoke but for now I think getting one cab up and running will be decent enough challenge.

So my question is, if I get this grow going I'll probably want to take a couple clones of the plants just incase I hit a really nice pheno or something, so what is the absolute simplest way I can go about this? I'm not planning on keeping a mother and would like to avoid having a separate cab for the clones to root in. My main concerns are the medium to clone in and lighting/containment. I've read most of the stickied threads about cloning but it would be great if somebody could outline what you think is best option. Thanks a lot guys! :rasta:

There is really no "best" option. Like many other aspects of a grow, it depends on your situation and conditions. Fastest way to get set up is to continue to read through the cloning threads and find something that looks appealing and will work for your situation.
Your key word used was "eventually", which means you really won't know what you will need/want to do for clones until you are set and growing.

I can tell you that cloning can be as simple as cutting off a twig and sticking it in a cup of dirt. It can also be made into a laborious chore.

The easiest way is to stick a stem in a cup of water. Will that work for you? One way to find out.

There's no area of growing where identical methods lead to more widely different results. There are as many who say domes are required as there are those that insist domes are death incarnate.

View the various threads till something appeals to you. If that doesn't work try another. Somehow, I want to say you're a perlite and wick kinda' guy.

I second that.

As long as you're not concerned about time, it's usually a 100% success rate. Just make sure you change the water every few days and keep it in a cup that doesn't let light into the water. 4-10 watts of light is actually plenty. :)

The temps of whatever medium you chose to clone in is a key to quick rooting. 75-80 degrees is the ticket. Good luck! BC

There are many factors it seems that affect cloning, and just as many cloning methods... it all depends on your set-up... keep reading and you'll find something that'll work for you!

take the rear lid off of your toilet...float a piece of styrofoam with a hole in it...leave your bathroom light on...everytime you flush it will aerate/replace the water...done..no extra cab/space/light necessary..you may consider securing the styrofoam with some wire or a coat hanger so it doesn't get into mechanism of toilet..

Bubble cloners with disposable plugs are by far the best cloning method, and once it's all set up, it's virtually brainless operation. Just need a shoebox sized plastic storage box with a secure lid, some airstones, a pump or two, aquarium silicone(important! non toxic!), and some Styrofoam for the plugs. I wish ***** dot com was still functioning because I could just link you to an entire tutorial I wrote.

I agree w/ the majority...Easiest method is Ph'd H20 and bubble stone...

Good luck

cut and place in a bubble cloner....100% if left long enough. If your a real lazy fucker like me just slap them in RW cubes with h2o with a ph less then 7 and keep moist. :fsu: :joint:

i hate rockwool...they say it neutral but it produces its own acidity or someshit...i think as it breaks down or something...its neutral until you keep it wet..

Hey thanks for the replies guys.. the bubblecloner is a no go as that is exactly what I'm trying not to do. way to complicated with the pumps and everything, even though it will give really good results I'm trying to make this as simple as possible and I'm willing to sacrifice a 100% success rate to do it. The water with a bubble stone sounds like the one I will be trying. LOL at the toilet idea that's awesome and I will definitely try it just for shits and giggles but wont the water be too cold? hahaha

I use the cloner that ******* recommended. Pot of water, with an airstone in the bottom, covered with aluminum foil. Punch a little hole for the stem of the clones, punch em in. Makes it easy to check for roots, and you can use a sharpie to write on the aluminum foil which clone is which. Had 90% success, roots in 7.

No hormone :D

easiest method ever:

1. Get a plastic cup that is somewhat dark in color.

2. Put a cutting in a peat pellet.

3. Put the cutting and peat pellet in the cup.

4. Mist the inside of the cup with plain old water.

5. Cover the cup with plastic wrap.

6. Put it somewhere warm with indirect light for at least 16-18 hours of the day.

7. Take the cover off once a day for some fresh air and to make sure the insides of the cup still have condensation. If no condensation then mist the inside of the cup not the cutting.

Notice I didn't say anything about rooting hormone? You absolutely do not need it with peat pellets.

uhhh ... requiring domes, inspections, venting, and misting on a daily basis is not the simplest or easiest way.

Water with a bubble stone=bubble cloner!

Its the same thing...the only pump you need is the air pump for the "bubble stone" (airstone)

if you get the correct dome...it will have tiny spots where you can punch holes out...then its perfect humidity/fresh air replenishment...very passive...its worth it..
