Bigblack81, did you mention using molasses for flushing? it's ok for soil and coco but don't do it in hydro unless you want to see what it'll do to your system...

Considering I want to use a completely seperate container for my flushing, I think using molasses would be fine, especially if I go passive for just the flushing cycle. But if I were to go with a smaller E&F table, I'd get a commercial finisher like Sweet.

Regardless, my flushing cycles will always be independent of the main grow section. It's making me nuts planning it but that's the fun of the situation. :D

You can make your homemade E&F trays have a simulated type of drainage like the purpose built E&F trays using Egg Crate Flouro Louvers. They sell them in 2' x 4' sheete @ $10 each at Home Depot. They look like this:

Merfolk, it depends on how big your tub is.. you can go with 2 in. net pots for clones and do a sog ebb n flo with a shitload plant sites.. I have a tray with 12-3 in. pots it works great.

Do you have a Lowes in your area in the concrete section they sell what they call super tubs for less than 20 a pop black plastic tubs perfect for ebb n flow and just right in the pocket book. put in your fill & drain and through a buch of pots in or make a water proof lid for it w/ foam sheet insulation, cut out the holes for your pots and your on your way... get 2 tubs and there's your 3 x 3 for like 30 bucks I think each tray is 13 bucks..I think they might even be on the Lowes website.

Nice you'll enjoy not spending as much as retail, and the plants don't realize the difference imho

ive posted these pics before, but this thread seems perfect. This is a 9qt oil changing pan, available at wallymart for $7.
I use a small water pump available at most pet stores $25

the pump is obviously hooked to a timer.

A few years ago I had a micro system. it was a tiny rubbermaid to hold the roots (really small, like 6"x10"), connected to a res that was outside my cabinet. I used garden hose to connect the two, with a fill line and a drain line. I kept the cabinet higher than the res and it drained great. I left it to recirc 24/7 but you could put it on a timer and call it E&F, NFT, whatever. It worked GREAT! Usually had two ladies. Under a 150hps cooled by pc fans and plexi psuedo-hood. Sorry lost my pix. Happy to chat!
