Winter outdoor crop!

Hello ICMAG, wonderful website with good information and good people.
I am running a winter experiment, the winter is VERY MILD, never really drops below mid 30's ferenheit(?) and the weeks it does get that cold it doesnt last at all. anyways, this is the northern hemisphere and I am thinking these might bud something before the new year! anyways take a look.

The two in the green pot are now at a friends under two 14w cfls. I am interested to see how they do. the babies in the white pot are the four sitting together in the mulch. I tried to show a pic of the growth happening at the nodes but it is hard to make out. I think they will take off shortly, they have recently been transplanted, all seem to have taken good except one which lost some leafs. Also these guys were started in mid to late september. there is some black kow(manure compost?) in there with them in the soil.

life is good.

Do you at least have many sunny days during winter in your area? You might want to consider putting some kind of cold frame or cloche over them when the high temps dip below 60, just to help retain some heat to help keep them growing in some way.

Otherwise, good luck to you!

Go for it! I've heard of guys growing in 0 deg celcius weather under cold frames with heaters. They would grow minis = strait to bud.

Just keep inmind that they do tend to slow their growth to a standstill when the average temp goes much below 50F, part of the reason is that Nitrogen stops converting to a usable form once the temp drops to low.

You plants won't die of course(unless it starts freezing), they just might go to sleep when conditions are too cold for growth.

Just a idea:

There seems to be a pole in the center of your grow spot, I could see using this pole to hang clear plastic sheeting around your grow as a tee-pee style cold frame.

thanks for the support fellas. Plants are doing good... yes there is a 4x4 there backcountry, i like that teepee idea, if temperatures get into the 50's at night i will built it. I am not worried tho... the average minimum temperatures for nov-dec is round 62, and they get 6 hours direct sun, it usually is nice and sunny... thats why we call it the sunshine state baby!

one plant seems to be taking the burden for the four... she is a trooper, and it is only one leaf really.

found a dead lizard on the patio, i burried it in the mulch... dogs have got a heck of a nose!

Nice crop you've started there. I'd like to do a winter grow haha, but temps wouldn't cooperate up here. Good luck! How big are they? Should be a nice crop in the winter time there. lower humidity this time of year? They look good man, awesome dog as well.

Peace

Thanks oak. I havn't really measured em but i would say 8-10 inches, i got a good pic of em next to a can. The humidity falls off good this time of year... still waiting for it to get nice and crisp out though, it is still humid for the moment. I dont know if it rains at night or what, but the ground stays good and moist for a while, havn't really watered em more than a handful of times.
Yeah my dog is a good boy, got him from a shady fellow in the boonies... for real cheap, glad he didnt have any bad problems from such a shady purchase.

You can't really see but I think the preflowers are showing up

My dog came from a reputable kennel and he has some mental problems, haha. Can't get him to walk up the stairs. Sounds like you got a good deal even if it was a shady one. The plants are looking nice and green man, nice size. Are you going to do any training with them? oh yea what strains are you running? looks like some steady healthy growth. Keep it up :canabis:

Peace:joint:
