just a quick question for all you experts out there. if im growing 6 plants in 6 square feet in a sea of green type grow (one week of veg from seed or no veg at all) do i need to do in special prunning to achieve a single large cola? and if i do will it not stress the plant in the flowering stage increasing my odds of hermis? my grow space is about 6 feet tall so i want to keep the plants pretty short and only want to grow a single main cola, well six of them to be exact lol. thanks in advance for your help :joint:

Don't prune at all if you want a single cola, when you cut them back they become more bushy with more bud sites.
I didn't pinch these at all, I just let them go.

The most important thing in growing a single large cola in my opinion is the genetics,There are some strains like sagarmatha yumbolt that whatever you do,your not going to get a single cola. Then there are strains like blockhead that do it naturally. You wont herm a plant by pruning or topping it to change the structure, and there are some things you can do to help a plant get the structure you want, but its mostly in the genetics,it has to be there to start with

That's true too, I generally do prune and LST but wanted to see what this would do if I left it alone. No idea on the genetics of this though.

Exactly right, short veg on these!!! Good call.

What do you mean Unicorn? nice cola btw

Like trim the little buds like this one on the left has along the bottom? That would make the single cola even bigger I presume, right?

no...i mean as soon as a branch starts to grow that you dont want...cut it off...yours are beautifully done

Oh I see, gotcha. Thanks, I can't really take credit for that, they did it themselves.

well except I loved them, and fed them and watered them.....well I guess it was a mutual thing after all

nothing but colax on a main stem...no branches....if in veg you dont give them enough time to grow branches and flower rite away you get this....peace

thanks for the responses guys!!!! two quick questions, would white widow be a good single main cola plant and does trimming the lower growth as it develops enhance the size of the main cola as in all the enrgy goes into the main cola? thanks again you guys are great.

yeah thats the general idea, in fact check out Gantz repost of a classic OG thread done by a fella name Tick...shows ya step by step how to get those great top colas
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=32013
heres some I've done lately...strain selection is crucial...I have a plant that I have to force into a single cola by constant pruning, then theres others that do it by themselves like POMH

I'm growing a widow offspring in great white shark, and IMO yes WW would work well for you...its great smoke and should grow like ya want

Thanks for that info unicorn, I'm always doing something different to my plants, seeing what will cause what to happen. I have fun with them.

And thanks killabrown for the link, nice of you to find it.

This is why I love IC so much!!!!
