About curing bubble hash.........

So I have heard lots of different opinions on how to cure bubble hash, so I am just wanting to get everyone's input here. How long do you cure bubble hash and do you cure it the same way as buds? Like leave it in a sealed jar for a month? Does the same curing process occur with hash as buds?
Also, wouldn't hash made from fresh, frozen buds need to cure longer than hash from dried and/or cured buds?
Please someone, I need some help in this area! :D
:thank you:

i would say it would be vary similar but not the same, because both process are about aging the resin but with hash you wouldnt have to worry about the whole chlorophyll issue so it should be easier
with hash tho it might depend on how aged the bud was to make the hash
just my hypothesis

Here is a link to an AWESOME thread here at IC Mag that discusses Hash Curing

The thread gets more interesting towards the back - where a member tried the hash curing processes described in Laurence Cherniak's book that he wrote with Alan Dronkers of Sensi Seeds called " Hashish - The Joy of Making and Curing " with his own hash and to great success

There are comparison pics - before, and after curing - towards the back of the thread too

So I should cure hash made from fresh frozen in a sealed jar for about a month before optimal potency is reached, is this correct? Do I burp the jars and stir around the hash, if so how often? It tends to clump together pretty fast.
What about if the starting material isn't fresh but never received a proper cure, should I cure this hash as well?
:thank you:

This is most of a post from the thread that was linked, and should sort of answer your question (Forgive me in advance for chopping it Sam, but it seemed contextual enough).

Storing any resin that is 50% dry in an inclosed container is wacko, even if you open the jar every three days the resin will spoil and mold. Storing resin in a warm oven for three months is also wacko. I do not believe that LC even knows the moisture content of fresh resin off a living plant, so how do you tell when it is 50% dry? I find that resin is best kept at 5% moisture content, any more is asking for problems. Resin that is 5% moisture is safe in a closed jar at room temps. But I would not keep it unfrozen for very long.

Once your resin is made keep it out of light, heat, moisture. The best way to keep for long storage is to freeze in an air tight container.

If you made your dry sift with dry buds that were cured for a few months then the resin should not be very high in moisture. I would not store resin in an air tight container without freezing. Curing should be done before the resin is extracted from the plants.

i dry mine out on cardboard till its dry and crumly, then off to glass jars for 3 weeks.

I got the cardboard part down, by the time its ready for jars its like powder almost with a few little chunks but do you just leave it sealed in the jars for 3 weeks without opening them or stirring it around or anything?

TheMadHasher- yup u got it...once its nice and dry for a few days I let it sit in a jar in a cool, dark place. i dont find it necessary to burp. I do pinch a little here and there to smoke it, so I guess I do open them about once a week. I dont agitate, and it normally settles and kinda starts to clump together.

I do not have info about how to cure the hash itself, but curing the bud for a long time prior can make the hash better.

i do agree with this statement. i always have cured prior to bubble, oil, whatever....until we started green oil extractions. even then we decarboxylate because of ingestion and activation issues.

good thread. remember, everyone has different taste. try it all and decide for yourself.

I'm with Sam.

I'd be real worried about mold or spoilage in sealed cointainers at anything close to room temps esp with the fresh frozen bubbled bud stuff. Charas will def go bad here in sub-tropics, so . . .

Prolly best to do any curing before hashing.

I make the hash from fresh frozen material and i let it cure in a small jar. Hash made from fresh material is way more gooey because of the moisture content. Also is clear that moisture is present if you smoke the hash within the first week. I let my hash dry on a plate..cardboard leaves nasty fibres. I just agitate the hash once in a while. Then after a week or 2, i place the hash in a small jar and it just sits there wit no lid on. After 4-6 weeks the hash has changed considerably in both taste and potency. Right now im looking at some 5 months cured bubblehash, and let me tell you. This is the best hash i have ever had, and ive had alot.

I don't get any cardboard fibers in mine and it drys waaaayyyy faster on thick cardboard. A lot of the time I don't have a week or 2 to wait you know? Try cardboard again you just have to move it around often so it doesnt get stuck!

Big up hashmasters. What is important is that the hash is properly and thoroughly dried pre-curing. Then its all good. Hash will keep for a long time if dried/pressed/cured, that's ancient news.

Here is how I break bubble up so it will quickly dry, avoiding any risk of mold/mildew.

Here is how I cure. I like to use jars that are packed 100% full. This goes on for a month to 6 months.

I'd like to correct this part. The gooeyness of great bubble made from fresh trim should not be water, it is the oily terpenes. Even bubble from wet trim needs to be dried, but it stays soft from the oils inside the trichomes. Hash will bubble, but this is H2O, CO2 and O2 being created from the decarboxylation of THC-COOH.
