Alright, so I'm gettin some strains together to try out for next years outdoor along with my usual's I want as many opinions as possible experiences are even better, here we go.

From House of the great gardener I got

-Afghani
-Haoma
-Barbara Bud
-Digweed

From Kannabia

-La Reina De Africa

From Med-Man

-Purple Pain Killer ( Cause most everybody pays top dollar for somethin with purple in the name )

Anyway tell me what you all think and have experienced. I'm gonna use a bunch of clones from a Afghani for breeding with my own strains, took me a while too find one I wanted too use but GWG looks like a good one. Kickin it old school with the Afghani, lovin it!

I'm running the Afghani (regulars not feminized which I think is what he sells) this year OD. I'll let you know. Could be a bit different as it's from the parent stock of the Afghani some dispensaries have. Not sure how they made the fems.

He sells regs and fems, I was gonna get the fems just cause of time and space issues to get em started. Ain't nothin wrong with fems, I don't know why people hate on them so much.

Look forward to hearin about your afghani you got outside brother, any pictures of em?

No, I do not. I will probably take pictures when they get bigger. They're around the 3ft mark.

I've got nothing against fems at all, just that it might be slightly different because of differences in selection (depending on breeding practice).

Check out www.420kingston.com if you wanna get ahold of his beans they got em all. I'd be weary of Rene though, I got 12 seeds this year and Only 5 made it to actually be somethin and only one of them resembles the original clone only cut I have. Gonna be interesting to explore the rest of the gene pool though!

Pictures would be nice man, I dove into Haoma and Afghani last night just had too. Just watched his videos on youtube of him breeding his feminized Haoma he uses the same cut he does for the regs, the one that everybody picked as their favorite. He seems like a awesome cat...We could be pals, not gonna lie haha.

Right, but regs obviously have a male, I'm not sure if he simply S1's that female or not. Perhaps you can share? The guy I got them no longer works for House, he's on his own but helped breed Haoma. He said they were open pollination (for me) which is exactly what I wanted. This is why I suspect we might see some differences, but still I'm curious!

S1's will tell you a lot about any potential bad recessives in a line.

Do tell me more what you mean with S1's tellin alot about bad recessive genes in a line. I breed alot of my own strains for outdoors not new to regular male/female but I've never tried to feminize anything.

Well, if you self a plant and it has a bad recessive on one of it's X chromosomes, it will be expressed in a large % of offspring. That's a gross simplification, but basically true.

IE: You have a plant with a recessive gene for hermaphrodism represented by y. Normally it's Y.

Yy - you self this you're essentially crossing it to itself.

So you get Yy x Yy

or Y y

Y YY Yy

y Yy yy

- so 25% will be herms, 50% carriers and 25% free from the gene. This is sort of why people sometimes advise against breeding with fems as just the math alone indicates bad recessives will pop up more if you are using an S1. But of course not all fems are S1's and not all lines attempted to be reproduced as fems are S1's either. It's not really accurate to say you never should though IMO and the process itself is super useful in determining how hetero or homozygous your plant is. The more homozygous the more likely it is to breed true, especially for the qualities you love (you have to assume you like the plant you wanna breed though).

Of course you might already know some of this and I might have just worded it poorly. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that man, I know how all the math of it works out with the XY but never dipped into the feminization spectrum. Thanks for the read though it makes sense now, I know when you breed a male of anything with a S1 white widow the widow is one dominant bitch as far a genes go she comes out more then any of the males bred with her do by far. You gotta grow out alotta seeds to find selection, cause she makes uniform babies no matter how many generations you back cross. Just used the Feminized version of White Widow as a example of a very strong, recessive, dominant gene pool.

Same as my Savage Skunk, don't matter what you it with male or the female of it the Savage dominates the offspring for the most part. Gonna try it this year with the Widow too see who has the more dominant genes. Call the offspring Savage Snow or Savage Winter?;)
