Workable pots?

I'm a closet grower. I usually flower under 150W HPS but it's a constant battle with heat. I use a 90W UFO to veg., works good. So I bought a 180W 7-band LED for flowering. My cab is only 31" tall. The paperwork that came with the light recommends 24-48" from the plant.

I always have drilled extra holes in my pots to get air at those roots. But the clearance distance from that LED would be a problem here because normal pots are too tall for my cab and that 180W LED.

My idea is to buy a couple cheap sink dishpans (I found some for $1.29/each at a Wally World) and drill holes in them like Swiss Cheese, then SCROG the hell out the plants in them. Those dishpans were 8" tall and 12" deep and about 10" wide.

Think it'll work? :tiphat:

I use plastic storage containers, my drainage system works better with the square corners.
The variety of sizes allows single or multiple plants, up to twelve sativa's in the 17" x 35".
Lately I have been using the rubbermaid three gallon Roughneck, holds two plants and yields up to five oz without special techniques. Eight oz with strings and sticks.

Very cool. I have wanted to try multiple plants per container but I have read from a bunch of different sources how that is bad because the roots compete and will choke each other off, so steered away from it. I'll bet that was mostly hearsay anyway. You have evidence that's not wholly true. But I suppose with such big containers the plants have enough seperation so that shouldn't be a problem anyway. Thanks. :tiphat:

The hardest part is the light competition. Tie downs help.
