Marijuana, LSD and Ecstasy Safer than Tobacco, Alcohol
Professor David Nutt, chairman of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs in Britain says that cannabis and ecstasy are safer than tobacco and alcohol.
Mr. Nutt (stop laughing now) has created a list of harmful drugs in descending order of danger. He puts heroin and cocaine at the top of the list with alcohol listed as #5, tobacco at #9, marijuana at #11, LSD #14, Ecstasy #18.
He has criticized the UK government for reclassifying cannabis to class B from class C, raising the penalties and requiring more enforcement of laws against cannabis.

I think they classify it lower because it's less "addictive" (psychologically). LSD is too. His list seems ordered by addictiveness as well as danger.

MDMA by itself is very safe. It's when it becomes "E" and has been cut with Meth and MDA that make it unsafe, more because of the Meth.
It is very hard to overdose, and not addictive...

If only Christians knew how much their "savior" enjoyed cannabis we wouldn't be having any discussion about legalization because it would already be an integrated and accepted part of our society...

I'm going to have agree with Homer J, MDMA is quite a safe drug if used responsibly... The only problem is finding legitamite MDMA, there is a lot of crap pills out there. But I think personally I would put mdma just above cannabis as opposed to being below. LSD is probably less physically harmful then cannabis on the note that cannabis is usually smoked and it can be harmful to your lungs. Although mentally LSD can potentiate an underlying mental disorder like scizophrenia or something to the likes of that. Bottom line though, Cannabis has never directly taken someones life in the history of man kind, and that's good enough proof for me!
Keep smokin'.

There is a thread on this in the UK forum.
This guy is the top authority on drugs in the uk.
He is the top guy of the governtment own advisory council.
Basically the government paid (with our tax payers money) for research by the top most qualified guy into dangers of drugs and wether cannabis should be reclassified as the higher 'class b' rather than 'class c' that it was dropped to a few years ago.
The top guy comes back and says well based on years of scientific research etc Cannabis should stay at the lower class C.
The government say well actually bollox to what you say with all your research and what not, we know better, were putting it back up to class b!!?
im sorry but WTF!!
This guy also tells them that society is basically in denial about the dangers of 'socially acceptable' drugs such as alchohol and that they should be rated along with all drugs on a comparison scale so people can make an informed decision- but the govnmt accuse HIM of confusing people!!
what does this tell us about the govnmt, arrogance and ignorance beyond belief, in the pockets of alchohol and pharma companies perhaps who want cannabis in particular to stay illegal !!!
to top it off i hear reports today that prof Nutt has been sacked- for doing research the govnt asked him to do and coming back with the results!!??
WTF !!! :wall bash: sorry this gets me so angry i dont even know if what ive written makes sense!!!!

This is the same research from a few years ago...Google the top 20 most dangerous drugs. An episode was made for BBC Horizon too...
And yes, based on the research criteria, MDMA is in fact "safer" in many way than the almighty cannabis. Like others have noted though, they're referencing pure MDMA, we all know street xtc has a high tendency of being cut w/ various chems.
My favorite thing about this whole research...Psilocybin mushrooms didn't even make the top 20.

Skip, OK, I'll bite........
I am a Christian for legalization, have been since Kieth Stroup was heading up NORML. I am not alone. We may be more in the closet than many sexual orientations tho. Give me a reference I can see and read (or video) Tell me more about how how much my savior enjoyed MJ. Back it up with something I can verify too. He did make wine and I believe MJ is here for a reason and God has a sense of humor. I would like to see what you've seen about this. Did he prefer sativa or indica??? Tell me more.......(I'll supply the salt)

I think it's horrible they sacked the guy, but at the same time it may turn out to be beneficial for us since it might direct the attention of the general public on the horrible injustice the government keeps enforcing. I have serious hope that this will cause a public outcry in the UK but that may well be wishful thinking...
