Hah, yeah. It's ambitious I know. I'm as curious as anyone to see how I do. I have no previous experience with hydroponics, but do have experience growing outdoors in soil (legal plants) & I'm ravenous when it comes to research. So far so good, but there are lots of pitfalls... Thanks for commenting, I hope you stick around!

History up to present date:

6/26/2009: Germed 10 Cinderella 99 seeds (Group 1) using the paper towel method and a heating mat set to 80 F. Seeds were soaked in tap water for 24 hours previous to placements in the papertowels.

All seeds germed in under a week and were placed in rockwool cubes soaked in PH 5.5 water and placed under regular fluorescent lights.

Seedlings were watered about every other day for three weeks with PH adjusted 5.8 tap water with a fan blowing on them to strengthen stems.

Three weeks after germination the seedlings were placed in dutch buckets in two rows of 5 filled with hydroton and placed under a Procyon light. Nutrients were given at 1/2 strength. Plants began to show nutrient burn so the solution was cut back to 1/8 strength. It was gradually increased over the course of the next few weeks to 1/2 strength where it is as of this writing.

Group 1 was cloned for sex on 9/2/09 when they were 2 months old (8 weeks, 5 days). Two cuttings were taken from each plant and they were placed in the aerocloner unit under a row of 4 T5's set to 12/12 and placed about an inch away from the tops.

9/11/09 plants showed sex. 5 were female, 5 male. Of the females 2 stood out as stronger than the others. Cinderella 99 produces 2 phenotypes, a stockier bushier Pineapple phenotype and a longer, lankier Grapefruit pheno. The two strongest females were representative of each type (one pineapple, one grapefruit). I'm not 100% certain but the smoke report will tell. These two will likely be the mother plants for C99.

I'd just like to thank everybody for posting and/or subscribing, the votes of confidence, the compliments, and the skepticism too. I'm so glad people are watching and being honest. In my short time here, I've found this to be one of the most intelligent forums out there, so it's gratifying to have an audience like that. For my first grow, it's kind of like a high wire act isn't it? Noob's first grow, noob kinda goes all out - is maybe over her head - who knows, will the noob succeed or fail? I've got to say, I'm as curious as anyone to see what happens. I'll be doing my best, this I can assure you. But there are a lot of tricky elements here all of which are new to me and I'm aware that if I pull it off to my satisfaction - that's going to be quite a feat I think. I haven't even grown anything in hydro before, let alone aeroponics. My experience is limited to some pretty good backyard gardening occassionally, but nothing remarkable and what I've learned from various forums and books. As the rooms, systems, etc are still being constructed/being ordered - it's a little fly by the seat of my pants. So there IS the possibility of a fail of epic proportions... but who doesn't like a trainwreck, especially one of biblical/tragi-comic proportions which this very well could be - all it takes is a pump failure to kill a crop. I'm sure if it goes down bad there will definitely be a part of me laughing along with you all, right next to the part of me sobbing in a corner clutching my dead plants to my chest. Get back up pumps, no sense on letting a pump failure ruin your work..sounds like you got some leg work in on this project....good for you! Great Strain Selection; have you had samples of them all?

I'm definitely getting a few back up pumps - can't rely to heavily on a $25 piece of equiptment that can sink your whole grow, right? You ain't kidding about the leg work either. I have never had any of the strains I am growing - it's on reputation/description alone that I chose them. I'm thinking of doing a post, a short one to basically address things like the thinking behind the strain selections, why I made certain choices over others - maybe that would be helpful to someone.
