GDP in 2 Gallon Buckets With Happy Frog Soil & Flora Nova Nutes...

Hi IC,
So here is my first run at documenting my grow so that I can learn more from your feedback and also contribute where I can.

This strain is a GDP from Nor Cal Bay Area. I like its structure and it seems to be a hardy plant.

picture.php

I have them in Happy Frog soil and I will be using the Flora Nova nutrient line because it was simple and quite truthfully this will be my last run in soil so I just couldn't see getting too far deep in the different nute formulations.

As soon as this one is over with I will be switching to either DTW Coco set up or Ebb & Flow using Multi-pots.

When needed I will also be using CaliMagic, Floralicious, Koolbloom (liquid & dry form).

Any and all comments and advice is appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by,

p.s.
Special thanks to Homer J Pimpin, forty, lil~greensprout, and resinryder for showing me what can be done with Flora Nova

Thanks for stopping in Rew.

In my last run I was using a 3 part solution from a different company (which will go unnamed since I don't want a flame war here) and was VERY dissatisfied.

My plants suffered some serious deficiencies.

In searching out a more simpler way to grow I came across this thread:

Flora-Nova is liquid gold

One look at the pics on that thread and you will be convinced that simpler often times is better.

Stay tuned to see how this one turns out...

How has the Happy Frog soil been treating you? How long did you wait till you started using nutes/ferts?

Great looking plants, I made the change from organic soil to coco not too long ago. I'm watering 3 times a day with drippers and the growth rate has been incredible. I'd advise everyone to at least give it a try, drip fed coco RTW with vertical lighting is a really kickass way to grow.

I actually like Happy Frog. It is a nice soil and I really haven't had to feed them all that much either.

Edit:
Hahhaha... sorry about the PM bro. I actually meant that message for LokiLoki since he had asked about the nutes.

I have let the girls go a couple of weeks with only feeding them a light nute diet.

In all honesty I probably should have let them go a little bit longer before adding nutes to their diet so it is definitely a learning experience.

I just hopped on over to your thread and am really blown away on how healthy and ROBUST those girls look . Later this evening when I have the opportunity to sit down and go through it in detail I will post several questions on your thread that I have so be on the look out for those.

A quick question though: Have you grown with E & F buckets using hydroton? I have seen several grows on here and the results are really outstanding.

My thought process is that as soon as I finish this round and for the next 6 months I am going to be rolling with the E&F buckets with hydroton just for the sheer production power that they bring but then switch up to a coco dtw since I will be doing a lot of travelling and will only be able to come back and check on the grow once every week.

Any thoughts on that?

So here's an update my friends:

What do you guys think? I have two 4x4 trays with 1k each to flower these girls under. I am going to split them up with 12 in each tray. Since this is the first time I am flowering this strain I really don't know how much of a stretch I am going to get.

You figure these will be good to flower in another 2 weeks?

Just a quick update fellas:

Here's a quick shot with lights on in their new home. I will update later this evening when lights are out and I can get a proper shot.

Some of them are a little bit water logged but I will correct that.

Alright folks so here is the update:

Here's a side shot of the canopy:

picture.php

Here's a shot of what is representative of the plants that aren't doing so well. It is a mix of F****ng spider mite infestation and improper watering.

picture.php

And finally a shot that I just thought looked pretty cool:

picture.php

I am seriously just thinking about lollipoping the tray and flowering all 25 in the 4x4.

I would have to first treat them properly for spidermites. Since I have the Captain Jack's Deadbug concentrate I am going to spray them with that first then in 3 days from now hit them with Azamax then 3 days later hit them with Neem Oil.

Hopefully this should get them to where they need to be.

Any thoughts on this??

alll you need is the spinosad every 2-3 days 3-4 times
Cyat,
Thanks for chiming in partner. I was reading the directions on the bottle of Jack's Cleaner and it says every 7-10 days for spider mites.

If you have experience with Spinosad then that is enough for me my friend since your results speak volumes.

Here they are after a complete spray down with the 1/2 gallon pressure sprayer from Home Depot:

blaze they make more babies every two-three days, so you got to stay on top of it. too much sprays combined will burn the leaves. i have conquered mites and thrips with just spinosad. azmax and neem are both neem, one is oily tho. spinosad is fairly clean and mild. spray the whole room too, everything.
good luck

dont give up on soil yet your plants look great!

And...

The Jack's spray is working incredibly well. I am very satisfied with it.

I also let the girls dry out some which REALLY helped them out before giving them just a little bit of nutrients last night.

All in all they are bouncing back and I just placed them into a 48 hour period of darkness prior to flowering.
