Best potting mix available from Bunnings for outdoor grow.

I'm stuck in the unenviable position of not being able to get my hands on the usual soil, compost and worm castings/tea that I've used in my previous outdoor grows and it looks like I'm going to have to go to Bunnings to pick up some potting mix. I've already got my seedlings planted in some Yates seed starting mix andf I'm waiting to see how that goes but I've never bought commercial potting mix before for my ladies. Anyone ever used commercially available mix in one of their grows here? If so I'd love to here about it. I've pm'd someone from this site entertaining the idea of using coco or another hydro medium as I'm thinking of using hydro nutes for the grow but I'm a mess right now as I have no clue what course of action to take. I've never had to take soil PH readings and I'm scared if I use pre packed mix with hydro nutes I'm gonna get nute lockout or some other problem. Any and all tips, comments etc would be really appreciated. Thanks guys, take care.

i bought some mix from there the other day. i did a similar mix to what tom hill recommended for his treees.

perlite/peat moss/premium soil with gypsum.. probably not needed as i am using pots.

i would go 30% perlite/ 30% peat/ 40% soil. i think i need some sort of mulch too as the top seems to dry up quickly..

i did then buy canna terra.. and wow! that stuff is so light and different from other potting mixes

Thumbs up soil

LOL
I'm not sure if they have it but Neutrog Premium grade potting mix is the best I have found. Small particles, very light & very black...all organic too. 80L for about $13.
This is how I mix it:
1 bag Neutrog potting mix
1 x 4.5kg block compressed coco coir (from k-mart-$5 makes about 60L)
3 x 10kg bags worm castings
approx. 5kg Dynamic Lifter
trace elements (Very important when using organic nutes...helps uptake of certain minerals)
powdered sulphur (to lower PH)

Mix it all together...all done.
I use a range of veg nutes.... Seasol, aquasol & Ozi Magic Grow Juice Grow formula.
During flower I use Ozi Magic Monsta Bud, Ozi Magic Tonic, Dutch Master Potash+ & molasses. Also been trying out AN's Dr. hornby's pirahna beneficial fungi & tarantula beneficial bacteria. I will say I'm most impressed with the root development since I have been using the Tarantula....I have seen roots hit the bottom of pots 3 days after re-potting...very nice....
I use the same mix minus the sulphur for my retail nursery plants.

Kreidman Farms is the best quality potting mix/compost sold at bunnings IMO! (isn't amgrow a division of amway?)

Ground sheep shit, cow shit, etc are good admixtures too but you wont find it at bunnings, If your in Melbourne go to the animal feed store in oakleigh (on the corner, under the bridge).

What about using:
Naked Farmer Organic Soil Activator
Debco Seed Raising Mix
Richgrow Play Sand (for drainage, prevent clumping)
Cat litter (vermiculite type for drainage)

Maybe add some volcanic rock (or coke bottle tops with holes drilled in them) in the bottom of a shrub tub with an air stone like an OBBT?
