Not your avarage WaterFarms...

Hey everyone!! This is my first thread here on ICMag, and I wanted to show you guys/chickyz my heavily modded Waterfarms. :jump:

I first started making this system a while back while following alot of Heath Robinson's high flow style grows. I loved the idea of using vertical lighting and low plant numbers. So, I decided id super mod my waterfarm kit and instead of growing a couple trees, grow all 8 smaller bushes and drop a couple 600w's in the middle of each set of 4.

So its 8 Waterfarms..

Connected by 1 1/4" PVC to the stock control bucket w/float valve to stock res..

1800gph Magdrive from the outside of the control bucket pulls water through 3/4" pvc down the line of buckets with T's then reduced to 1/2" to a ball valve then into each bucket..

The nutes enter the bucket right under the inner bucket with a 45* elbow with a plug in the end and holes drilled in the plug like a spayer. I got this idea from Lightning Bug and his "My Buckets" grow. I was planning on just shooting the water straight out of the elbows, but the buckets filled faster then they would drain so I ended up putting in the drilled plugs to even everything out..

I actually split up the return and have 2, 1 1/4" returns going into the control bucket. 1 for each 4 buckets..

Pump runs 24/7..

Nutes are chilled by a 1/5hp chiller at 68f

Using Lucas Formula all the way through. Flora micro/bloom 8/16..

Strains are Bubba Kush X Master kush and Green Crack. They were all the BKxMK but had a problem early on and didnt fill the inner buckets full enough with hydroton and had nutes splashing all over the lil clones and had to pull 6 out of the 8 that where in there and to use a couple GC's I had to fill 2 spots. So 2 are ahead by about 5 days or so..

I vegged for 4 weeks, first 3 weeks were 20/4, and last week was 18/6. They were flipped to 12/12 on the 15th of this month so they are about 10 days in..

Room is 10' x 10' x 8'. Cooled by a 10" maxfan through a bigassfilter(dont know the brand off hand). Passive intake coming from under the house so it is very nice and cool. Temps mid 70's/40-50%rh lights on and mid 60's/50-60%rh lights off..

No problems as of yet other than the splashing in the beginning. I know better now to bury the rings in the hydroton next time. No leaks(knock on wood). Hope smooth sailing from here on. Ill post alot of pics and keep the thread updated. I wasnt able to get any Root Porn in yet, need somone to help me hold a plant up. But ill have some up in the next day or so.

The rings have been off on the girls ever since the roots hit the bottom bucket. The Magdrive is supplying the plants with all the DO that is needed.

Any and all advice or questions are more than welcome. This is the first time ive run this system so there might be some surprises along the way. Hopefully big fat stanky ones!!!:yoinks:

Thanks everyone for your input!! And Stay Frosty!!

they will love those fans blowing upwards... laminar air flow... coupled w/ turbulent air flow, supplies lots of oxygen & facilitates gas exchange... placing a bucket of fermenting solution next to, or air-hosed beneath/on top of those fans may supply additional c02, @ little expense...
unlimited cheap c02

Thanks bro!! Lb's definitely got his shit together. Shoot me a link when you get yourz up and running. Is it going to be a scrog?

I will, yeah its either going to be a vert scrog, horiz scrog, enor just plain vertical I haven't decided yet. In the future it will definitely just be straight vertical with tomato cages holding the plants up and growing trees though.

4 weeks veg those are gonna blow up in that system man! that green crack is supposed to finish realll quick right? and what are you doing with res maintenance, is it a pain with the smaller resvoir or not too bad?

one thing id reccomend is raise the lights like 6 inches or so, thats just me tho.

also, can you get any shots of the res or inside of anything? and how hard was it to adjust the flow with the ball valves to get the water level even, and any probs with clogs or leaks?

looks like you got the expensive bulkheads too, very nice:joint: haha sry for all the questions, just very into this kinda setup.:joint:

Gc finishes anywhere from 45-65 depending on preference. Ima prob let them go 55-60 and try to pull the GC and the MKxBK at the same time. The kush is 55-60.

I havn't had any problems with the rez size. The float valve keeps the control bucket at the level I want. PH is stable as can be. I havn't had to use any ph down. I top up with tap(my tap here is 80ppm) and let the ph drift from about 5.2 to about 5.8, about 3-4days, before I add more nutes to bring the ec back up and ofcourse the ph drops aswell, back to 5.2ish.

Why do you think I should raise the lights? Just curious.

Ill post pics tonight of the inner workings of the buckets and some ROOT PORN. The tweaking of valves was actually easy. Just had to pretty much choke the buckets farthest from the control bucket and can just about leave the ones closest wide open. Just want good flow back to your control so the pump doesn't empty it. At first I had just one return back to the control and the pump would fill the buckets faster than drain them. So I split it up and put 2. Solved that problem. 2" return would probably work as well.

No clogs or leaks(knock on wood). The plugs i have drilled out are not glued so I can pop them out and clean them if need be. With using just micro/bloom, nothing really in the water to clog them tho so I dont really check them too often.

The fittings I use are actually very cheap and are not bulkhead fittings. They are just electric PVC pieces fit together with a rubber washer in between. You have to use the electric PVC(gray) because the regular white pvc doesn't screw together tight. Ill show pictures of what I use. Cost less than 5$ each this way. Even 2" are around 5$
