not exactly rocket science this one but i have success with no-dig methods with my veg garden and a comment by microbeman reminded me that soil fauna forms in layers - different microbes inhabiting different depths.
so i was thinking of how you could do this with indoor potted plants as a better way of maturing the organic soil before planting.
the smalll pot is exactly the same as the pots my plants are vegging in. i can keep this moist, let it cook for a week or two, and then just remove the small pot, put a bit of myco in the hole, and drop the new plant in. Hopefully the microherd will be undisturbed and it'll be business as usual
if you're worried about fungal gnats then wrap it in some net curtain or something.
