25 square foot canopy, hey thats more than enough. thants plenty. if you want more youll need to fill out this application, hope you qualify. oh too bad you broke the rules we're taking your land and selling it to mr agrabusiness at a strangely way below market price. is that a pipe on the table? you know theres a school down the block from here - hey 7 years in jail for you buddy, by the way thats a minimum sentence so unfortunately the judge wont be able to do any judging. here hand us back those non-monsanto approved genetics before you go so we can patent your hard work. have a great day.

HL,
I live in Trinity and have been following the different proposals that local groups bring forward for prop 19 and I do agree if there has to be one that is a good one, but one thing really bothered me about that proposal. Its that you need to be a Humboldt Residence for two years before you are even eligible for this. I understand why it is there to attempt to curtail people from coming from all over. But I just feel that it is not fair for people who may live in the triangle like me who strattle the Humboldt line by mere miles who also are serious shoppers of property in the area. As well as the people who have been in humboldt for many years and supporting the economy in every way possible but their IDs may say Mendo, Trinity or Lake county.

"According to the proposed ordinance, applicants would have to be at least 21 years old, a resident of the county for at least two years and not have any violent crime convictions on their record." http://www.times-standard.com/localnews/ci_16336200

HGA's board members were on KMUD yesterday.
http://kmud.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=83
Listen to Monday Morning Magazine (8-9) from Oct 18th.
They were also on the tail end of the 6pm news from the 18th.
Tells how they formed and some of the reasons for their ordinance. Explains how they came up with the numbers for their permits.

mgrisme, you make a good point. I could especially see that being an issue here in the south part of the county where we have a small percentage of the population that live just across the northern Mendo border. I am sure you can understand why they want that language in the ordinance. They couldn't just make it that you have to be a landowner in Humboldt for 2 years as there are many vacant property owners who just have workers blowing out their properties and don't contribute to the community at all. The HGA would like to see an ordinance like this being rolled out in many of the North State counties. Trinity, Mendo, Lake, Butte, Shasta, Sonoma. These are all communities facing similar challenges and could use the same framework.
I am sure this ordinance will change several times over the coming months as more community input is heard.

Sorry for the total lack of updates. Been a little busy as I am sure you can understand. All is well here on the farms. We have been going non stop for well over a month and it doesn't seam that we have even made a dent. How I crave sandy beaches. Soon enough.

We had Jorge and his camera man Chris back to the farms today and had a blast. Got to see the footage from their last trip and it looks amazing. We are all in for a real treat with their next video. You won't believe how good they make these gardens look.
Everything is going great over here. We are as ready for the coming rain as we could hope to be. Have pretty much all the tops from everything harvested but still have a long way to go. I think we are about half way there. We have a great crew that is really pushing hard. Good luck with the rain everyone.:)
