REMINDER for those who dont FLUSH

I think most people have a hard time hearing that all the time they've spent flushing there buds only made their herb less potent along with a smaller yield.
Another reason I like hydro. I don't start flushing until the bud growth has stopped. Pretty much the last 5-7 days while they finish maturing.

When I do this, the buds are clean and tasty, even quick dried. A cure brings out the full flavor of course but, that flush with little to no nutes is the bomb. :D

thanks guys -after reading this thread I'm no better off than before i clicked on it-
Im trying to learn how to flush a hydro flood and drain set up? 25 gallon res.
water only and change the water everyday for a week or so?

"Plants such as cannabis break down organic pollutants and stabilize metal contaminants by acting as filters or traps. "Hemp is proving to be one of the best phyto-remediative plants we have been able to find," said Slavik Dushenkov, a research scientist with Phytotech."

``Research by the Polish Institute of Natural Fibres released in 1995 showed that high levels of heavy metals in soil do not impair cannabis growth, and that yield and fibre quality do not differ from those obtained on regular soils.``

Seems to me that metals and other contaminants from fertilizers could easily be stored in the cannabis fiber and end up in the final product. From personal observation I have noticed properly flushed bud taste better, and produces white ash. While bud that has not been flushed crackles and pops, smokes harsh, and produces dark sticky ash.

This is one of the best arguments I've ever seen for growing with organics instead of nasty chemicals.

In my experience flushing can be a very delicate thing to perfect. I have had both flushed and non flushed buds. What i can say is the flushed buds taste was by far inferior to the non flushed buds. THe smoke was alot smoother from flushed buds (and yes one produces grey/white ash and the other more black..) But after a good two months cure the non flushed bud wins hands down when it comes to taste and smell. So what i am doing is flushing for about 3-4 days in the typical hydro system with pure water not ph'd . This will give you the smoothness combined with a great taste ,well atleast this is what i have found flushing to be like. :)

It's not that easy sadly, as different sources have different levels of pollution. If you use fish or kelp fertilizer full of heavy metalls for example, your grass may be more "toxic"/ unhealthy then when you use chemical ferts from a cleaner source.

When I get the chance to 'cure' my meds for 6 months before use..... I'll probably look into doing a more fine tuned job of feeding my girls and not flush.

Until then.... I'll take the reduced yield from flushing, over what not flushing does to my body... any day of the week.

Anyone wanna step in and force the retraction of Prohibition? I could accomplish my goals in 8 months instead of 4 years.

I've done 5 harvests in my year or so on this site and I've not flushed any of them except for the final watering (2 days before chop.)

After a few weeks curing, the ash in my bowl is very light grey to the point where I debate with myself, "is this what people on the 'flush/don't flush' thread would call 'white ash'?"

Perhaps I just got lucky and happened to choose a wonderful strain my first time out of the box. (Serious AK47 from 4-5 years ago)
