Where did you find the info stating driving average is calculated with driver only.

Those stats that I posted are from the PGA's "ShotLink". One of the statistical tools the PGA uses to track players performances

There has been over 500 drives of 350 yds or longer on tour this year. Put the top guys on a driving range on a no wind day, and there's plenty hitting longer than 325. Driving average is mis-leading.

There has never been better and more accurate tools then what the PGA has today to measure the distance of players drives.

500 drives of 350 yards and longer isn't that many, considering about 144 players on average start most tournaments every week, and approximately70 make the cut.

Thats a couple thousand drives hit on par 4's & 5's each tournament and there have already been 18 or 19 PGA events this year alone.

I find I putt like mad. Last time I played stoned, did 9 one putts in a row. I find I get a bit too loose in the long game and tend to forget where the ball went. But I can putt and chip like a fiend.
very cool, I did a few 'pitch n' putt' tourny's back in the 60's & 70's. great fun.......

I have golfed with a lot of those 300 yard folks....they all suck buttermilk. I love it when they start that shit too...I simply ag em on and they will be in the lumber in no time.
lol..I love it!

We were out on the course one late afternoon, when a big time storm rolled up on us out of nowhere, raining like hell and lots of lightening...We were all scrambling for a shelter or something to take cover...all but my boy. He was out in the middle of the fairway and holding an iron above his head as far as he could stretch it...
I asked him what the phuck he was doing, was he mad?
He replied..."Hell man, even God can't hit a 2 iron". :yoinks:

On a more serious note, I find a 2I such a waste of good bag space.
On playing well...for bogey golfer such as myself, the secret is to learn to only hit nice easy shots off the tee. Keep EVERYTHING in the fairway as if your life depended on it. Then know how to pitch chip and above all, putt the eyes out of it. Even a lousy duffer, such as myself, can putt em like the pros. Drive for show, but putt for the dough! Aye,tronic?

AYE AYE!! Putting is my favorite part. Its the game within the game. Too bad Sergio and Vijay cant putt even kind of whatsoever, sort of. its disgustingly bad cause theyd be better than tiger woods right now

Although, these days it seems to be more of drive for dough AND putt for dough. Creative ironplay has really diminished on a whole so as long as you get yourself in the fairway there s no real excuse not to be, if not on the green, at least pin high with a rather simple up and in.

I think the most important thing is to play with what you've got. i dont have a 'go to' shot, i try to hit the shot that is called for or what feels comfortable (draw/fade/hi/lo/etc) but some days im hitting a little baby cut with the driver all day long. i dont fight this, i just aim down the left side of the fairway and rip her. if it cuts, perfect just down teh right center of the fairway, if i hit it straight, still in fairway, and if i snap it left i'm an asshole and deserve what i get.

i like golf cause its like life. you hit it, and go wander and find it. then hit it again. you can have as much of a plan as you like but sometimes you stripe one down the center of the fairway but your ball is stuck in a phatty divot....

ah, such is life.

I agree. Sergio would be dangerous and could give anyone on tour a run for their money if he could putt. Over the years, Garcia certainly has had his share of battles with a stubborn putter, poor decision-making, and the golfing gods.

It was hard to watch when he missed that 8-foot putt that would have won him the 2007 British Open. The putt looked perfect all the way, hit the lip, failed to go in, and then he totally fell apart against Padraig Harrington in the playoff.

In the Ryder Cup Sergio can drop putts from 10-20, and even 50 feet all day long, however, he cant make a putt to save his life in individual play.

golf sucks I have been playing for over 25 years and I will take a good hike anyday.

but I am not being fair to the sport. the truth is that Golf is a great sport, most challenging one in exisitence the real reason I hate it now is that I do not play enough. one or two times a year is all the chance I get now. back when I played regular I consistently shot in the mid 80's

about herb I personally think herb is a sport enhancer. I played goalie in college lacrosse. when I would blaze before practice or a game I had laser focus. Literally the lax ball looked like a basketball to me. It was so easy to get my body or stick in front and make the save.

golfing is alot like gambling. Everyone claims they are very good at it. My game is a total illusion. If you saw me on the range you might think I was good.

Wow...Golf talk on ICMAG...my 2 worlds unite!

I spend my days in a proshop, so I get to hear this typa talk ALL day long. Good to see that their are some players here. I'm a midnight toker now, but I used to love playing roasted. It would slow me down and really help my tempo, which is everything in this game....I also know some people who simply cannot tee it up without sucking down a few brewskies to loosen them up.

BlackRain, NICE!!! I am jealous, I'm on the other side of the operation bro! I am friends with a bunch of Supers, and I know the hard work that goes into it...It has to be satisfying getting compliments from the happy members every once in a while...

I prefer a few tokes when hitting the course, but too many and I lose my focus. Nothing better than being on a beautiful course on a nice day. Gotta love it.
