It's about that time to start ordering supplies for my second grow. I'll be using a closet that is 22.5" x 37.5" x 7'. I want to run a 600 in the closet but i don't know that it's big enough. Could somebody help me out on what size light to use? I'll be buying an air cooled reflector with whatever i get and will have ventilation set up.

I agree, 600W in a such a small area would need huge air movement over the bulb and in the cabinet. Go for a 400w hps and prevent overheating

You've got about 5.86 square ft.

Considering you want to get at least 50W per square ft., that means you'll want to shoot for a minimum of 300W in there.

600W would be a whopping 100W per sq. ft which is overkill and quite a bit of heat to remove.

I would recommend you check out the CMH sticky in this thread as a 400W CMH would be ideal for you. You can run it on a plain HPS magnetic ballast. It's superior to MH and HPS.

I would further recommend you get an air-cooled hood that you can hook up a 4 or 6 inch Vortex to. Then, I would recommend you get a CAN carbon filter that corresponds to the size of that blower or check out the DIY link-o-rama for some DIY carbon filters.

Good luck in your travels!

The HTG 400 HPS model will accommodate a CMH as will it's 250 HPS system. Under 250 watts CMH uses MH ballasts.

Inline fans are damn loud. If you cant place the fan in the attic, you'll want to lock people out of the grow room. Before you buy a fan, check this out Great Inline Fans (S&P)

i dont see why you cant run a 600 IF you can get rid of the heat and keep the room at a decent temp. people say at least 50w per sqft, but say you get diminishing results around 130 or so. est. 100w per sqft sounds like a lovely idea if you're up for the challenge! :) gluck!

Would that be the "Mould" Challenge or the "Powdery Mildew" challenge? :muahaha:
