...hi everyone...i'm a newbie here but have read some great books...a while back a friend of mine gave me Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts to read...he said he like it sooo....i was a bit put off cause the hardbound book was the size of a dictionary with pages as thin as those in a bible...it took me a while to start but once i did---WOW!!! what a gigantic true account of some of this man's life..."It took me a long time and most of the world to learn what I know about love and fate and the choices we make, but the heart of it came to me in an instant, while I was chained to a wall and being tortured."...this is how the book starts and, OH MY does it get better and better...sort of contemporary...ya just won't be able to put it down...the last person i gave it to to read called me at 10:30 one evening and thanked me...said it was the most exciting book that he had ever read and that he can't put it down and is sad because he is almost finished reading it...
...and then i read Wilbur Smith's The Triumph of the Sun...YIKES another one!!! very exciting story...i looked up the author because this was the first i'd read of his works...turns out he is know to be one of "the" most exciting writer today...so i read a few more of his things...very exciting writer...

Just finished " one mans wilderness"

Good book closely related to the journals of a man that went and lived 30ish years in the Alaskan Bush.

About to dive into a 500 page compilation of his un edited journals called "More Readings From One Man's Wilderness: The Journals of Richard L. Proenneke, 1974-1980"

The second part is a free download from the state Gov , so no need to buy , just download the PDF if you fancy.

I loved that book so much. I dont know, I will have to read it again. I bet it has to do with the religious undercurrent of the story though. There seemed to be a bigger picture there. Im going to try to find a pdf.

You would probably like "Ada Blackjack. A true story of Survival in the Arctic" by Jennifer Niven.
Its a story of Ada , who went on an expedition to Wrangel Island with several men. She ended up totally alone and wasnt rescued for two years.

I like survival stories, I'll check that out. Sounds similar to Alone by Admiral Richard Byrd. He spent 6 months planning on collecting data in Antarctica but barely survived due to a faulty stove that was poisoning him with carbon monoxide.

If you like that genre I suggest checking out Alas Babylon, On the Beach and Earth Abides. All classics in my opinion.

I'm reading Criminology, the core, 4th ed. A textbook on Criminology.

I like textbooks.

Does anyone know of any textbooks on Intelligence and Counterintelligence?

Los Tratos De La Noche by Mariano Picon Salas (the treatments of the night)

Good luck finding a copy though, or if there is even an english translation?

Amazing book, by one of the great one, I'd rate him above Garcia Marquez for sure.

Big Buds: A step by step ebook on growing at home

51ARfKxo3UL._SX331_BO1204203200_.jpg

My sole attempt at hydroponic anything at home was gardening in an Aerogrow kit. Jay Cheeba's Big Buds encouraged me to consider firing up the grow lights for something far better than meh tasting tomatoes!

Everything you need to know about indoor cultivation of marijuana seems to be in Mr. Cheeba's free-to-kindle-unlimited-readers tome. There are sections on everything about growing the plant, from lighting systems and hydroponics, to trimming, and nutrients, and there are sections on harvesting, and preparing for use. This is a very step-by-step guide, and while short, only around 60 pages, I feel pretty confident Cheeba has given me enough information to successfully cultivate a crop of some pretty good weed at home.

I think, however, it is easier to go to a dispensary and my home would smell far less bad. The Aerogrow kit, with just tomatoes, made the house pretty pungent. Sometimes it was nice, sometimes it was chemically. I have serious worries, as a friend's single plant in a pot really destroyed their apartment, once, long ago.

Even tho I won't be growing, for .99 cents via the Kindle Store, or free via Kindle Unlimited, this is a fun read.
