Purging questions....

I have made BHO and purged it using the stove top, then baking it for a while.... Ive heard of vaccum purging but havent really looked into it much. My question: Is it worth it to look into? My method seems to work but will vacuum purging work better?
Also, I have a lot of keif and was thinking about making bho with the keif. Has anyone done this? I have a glass bho extractor, was thinking maybe not put too much in as it may clog up.
Also is the glass bho extractor supposta get real cold and frosty? I was worried it might shatter last time I did this... Thanks!

You can purge without vacuum, but not as fast or as completely.

Yes kif in a column will work, but kif in a frozen thermos would work better. You might try mixing it with bud in the column to keep from clogging and deadheading.

We run kif in a Terpenator column, but we replace the 2 and 3' columns with a 6 or 12" one.

We make our columns out of Borosilicate (Pyrex) which tolerates thermal expansion better and is less prone to crack as a result. It is also important that they are fully annealed and that the dome is a full radius of uniform thickness, or it may spall off conchoidal divots of glass around the injection hole in cold weather.

Yes it's worth it to look into, yes it will work better, purging in a thin film under deep vacuum and constant heat is the by far the best way. Oil from average kief or bubble has never been as flavorful as oil from sugar trim or flowers. Extracting from low quality bubble or kief is great for oral meds, high yields and potent.
