Hell Hound selection #7 at day 40

Hell Hound selection #7 at day 40

This girl is blowing up into one of the more hefty sisters. Well blended example of both her parents....stinks of bubblegum funk...perhaps some metallic citrus twinge in the background...really hard to define aroma. Smells wonderful...how's that? If you have no filters or scrubbers...you could not cultivate her and stay stealth.

* I'll be growing The Fuck Show outdoor pit plants in 7gal Smart Pots of coco

* have frost on my veggie/fruit gardens this morning. It's a balancing act....a game of timing...and a lot of extra work to keep plants from stalling or being killed. By mid June...I'll be up to full speed

dirty mary crazy larry....I'm almost to my indoor shut down....it's been a long haul. Be happy to dry dock the vessel for the summer

Pablos, its always a pleasure to be able to catch up on your path bro.

im starting down my own path and i can already see that in time i will be able to let go of my clone only cuts and be sold out to my own crosses. it might take a while but the urge is there.

Alvin Youngblood Hart's Muscle Theory........thx 4 pointing them my way.....im liking all i hear so far and i gotta see if they swing thru my neck of the woods.....they would be worth driving some hrs to catch a show.

Selections 6 4 5 entering flush: Day 53

Selections 6 4 5 entering flush: Day 53

Not much difference between these sisters....with the exception...that #4 is partially pollinated for the inline. All smell like a twangy/citrus funky bubblegum....plenty sticky..plenty of waft. Make lovely hash plants. The veins in fading fading leaves...they are pink...subjecting my observation further into a bubblegum(ish) direction. Bubblegum (not the cannabis strain) clicks in my mind when handling the sisters. Makes me want to blow bubbles...snap pop...collapse

* Harvesting Selection #2 today at 63 days. She has quit on me after 13 days flush.

** Busy putting in the rest of my veggie/fruit gardens...takes up most my spare time.

Slowly getting the pit dug out. It's part of a bigger landscaping/garden theme....and so...is being done in stages. A lot of grunt work...as heavy stuff must be moved. Coming down to the wire though...I have to get those plants in place in the next week. It's not the 2 minute warning...but close

EDIT: Son of a bitch...I just found 2 shoe boxes of I-HOP Highend that...I guess...I manicured...dried...but forgot to jar. Fuck it...rolled a few joints of it....anybody need a towel? Mighty high

Yes....correct...a beautiful Casey Jones looking expression. #2 is almost definitely NOT a "true" Hell Hound...but an Odessa IX2 (F3)...so...

..so you can see that Casey Jones X Casey Jones x C99BX in the 3rd generation...is still...very much...Casey Jones in a lot of ways. The aroma blows me away. My golly...my gosh...I'm so looking forward to smoking her. Fluff all day...but am I improving on Casey Jones?...when does she become something else?...does it matter?

* It can be said (though not proven)...through my observations of this Hell Hound run...that 8 of 9 sisters are "true" Hell Hounds...meaning that they have the OG Jam parent in them. The #2 selection....the only exception...as I see nothing of the Jam in her. Speculate then...that she caught the Odessa parent pollen at her conception.

** Using blended pollen is wonderful. Try it. Adds the unknown factor.

*** damn a 3rd generation Odessa...how time passes at indoor plant speed...the hum of the fans hypnotic to the sways of passing through expression

****Union Break over...done with lunch...back to work. Built a 6 plant tomato SCROG this morning

I recognize structure from the CJs I'm running. But it looks more compact by a good bit. Is that genetic, environment, nutes or all of the above? I dont think I kept on the PK hard enough and my temps have been a tad high the last few weeks... We shall see. I'm totally gonna start blending pollens. Especially when "merging" lines. Next up for sprouting is mental Flo, satechism and Flo x (HM x BB). MF and satechism pollen blended makes sense to me. Chasing those quasi-SWT expressions.

blended pollen.........i am glad to see this b/c i plan on doing this as i start down my own path since i dont have any expierence in choosing males and i really dont know what im after.

i just know i love this plant and i dont ever see me not growing it and its this thread that has inspired me in many ways bro.

thx

The mother of this particular Odessa was either the Vinyl pheno or Tropical pheno I documented when I made these beans. In most cases...in taking Odessa inline and in outcrosses...I've been using the more thick/stout expressions. For some reason...I relate those to the C99 in the genetics.

With the progression made by combining the OG Jam to Odessa...Hell Hound...I have tightened up the flowers as well as producing some density. I believe I'll find that the resin profiles have been altered as well.

* Blended pollen can be liberating in a way. Using multiple males and multiple lines...depending on your goals....or ability to let go of organization...is no big deal. If you are working with your desired lines...you are not risking much...you know it will be good...no matter what grain lands where. I look at it as an ante into the free world of chaos....chance...fate..kind of a payment of respect

In the past: I found it wise to use multiple males for inline pollinations...but when outcrossing...I prefer using one solid male...mostly because I rely on the female to bring me in.

All in the wind when using blended line pollen....it's an indicator that line breeding by the book...documented and exact...has gone out the window(of course depending on the pollen...it might not even be line breeding). To me...it's kind of more old skool...quasi open pollination. If you have faith in your pool creations...it's on.....you'll never feel uncertain...it's happy hunting. Blows your mind

Are the pools you've created exact...P?

"FUCK NO....but they produce as per plan....and sometimes...I think I have a grip on my plant expressions...how to uncover them and what works for me. That's about all you can ever hope for..."

Manicure Selection #2 (thought to be Odessa IX2)

Manicure Selection #2 (thought to be Odessa IX2)

The tops I'm showing...subjectively steer me yet again. In my judging eye...conducted in my mind...I feel they are some sort of Thai jungle weed. The jungle now being an artificial indoor garden...where I pretend to pull off minor miracles of hybrid expression...but still...some where the roots to SE Asia continue to stretch.

* Flowers like these...far common in Odessa and Casey Jones...dry to be light...less than dense...foundations holding the resin farm. It might not weigh up...but the resin will be awesome. I know Odessa as well as I know anything I grow.

** As said previously...I'm working to tighten up the flowers. The "true" Hell Hounds will demonstrate that transition. The OG Jam infusion has done what I had hoped it would do.

*** Not knocking the flowers of Odessa...but Odessa was never created to be done....Odessa was created to be a stepping stone...and a foundation stone where I could anchor off and go over the side. A safe cross....of righteous genetics...very simple...with high % success rates at finding good stuff

That in Hell Hound...Odessa is washing into something else...PPP in essence. The point of no point

Yeah well dude....that shit in your thread has me salivating. You have a great eye...and great tastes. Props

EDIT: "resin filled sponges"....that's exactly the consistency of flowers like these. They are actually a pain in the ass to manicure....being soft/spongey and gooey all at once. Kind of better to trim when they are mostly dry.

Up the wall...Hell Hound transition

Up the wall...Hell Hound transition

Building high performance pools....is much like...building high performance motors. It's what you put in the guts of them..fuck the casting all together...forging is the strength. The top end...dressed up with the compatible components needed to electrify...breathe...feed..and make roar. Your innards must be able to withstand the heat...hold the compression...be durable...bear down with torque...

Hell Hound selection #1 at day 50....sliding on this day...into extended flush

Perfect example of the Hell Hound transition. The Odessa flower being altered by the OG Jam....becoming something different. Flowers like these....they thump when they sway into their cages. Dense in expanding girth...sticky...stanky top end.

The expression is drenched in torque...she is geared to grind out her flowers with a constant thrust. I consider her...a well built motor.

Tflux madness

Tflux madness

So yeah, started cutting down my two tents, first one this weekend, second goes this coming saturday.
They've been run for ten weeks under/next to a vert 600,marlo/WoW stylee(i.e. trained to a net on the wall behind them) First time in coco,6/9,still some dialing to do,but I already like this medium way more than the organic soil I ran for three years. They were vegged a little less than I'd like, and they probably could've ran for another week, but hey....

Here are a few tfluxes. Pretty uniform in how they grew, but some are stretchier and more finely limbed. They took to the food well, swelled good in flower, but I had some rust spots that none of the other strains showed. Probably moe finicky about the PH.

Scents are generally perfume and musk. Not really offensive, but pretty strong. Fresh and pungent at the same time if that is even possible. Smoked a wee tester of this before trimming. REAL nice stuff. Potent. A couple of drags off the bowl had me floaty and smily for the next hour. But there is fir sure some punch in there, another bowl would have laid me out,no doubt. These are gearing up to becoming a mainstay around here.
I'm either vegging longer next time,or leaving them untopped, revegging all these four and I'm most definitely sprouting more of the F2s and the F1s eventually. Quite happy to give these four another run for the time being.

All in all,P. GREAT WORK! These plants and the rest of your stuff have been an absolute joy to work with. Can't wait to give'em the dialed run they deserve and ofcourse to smoke'em.

Thaice

Thaice

And just because I'm a proud daddy... A few pixels of my first home cross. This one is the result of some hermie thai pollen hitting the nirvana ice cut I used to run. I sprouted five seeds just for kicks and ran this one after culling the rest. It just stood out from the pack from the word go.

Looks almost BB'ish with those lil resiny sugar leaves all over. Got burned from getting a little close to the light, but all in all a hearty girl.
This one leans to the ice,but burlier, more aggro in structure.
Has the fuel base-note of the ice,but it got earthier from the thai. None of the sweetness and fruit on top like the mother, just funky-skunky,poo-ish. It'll be fun to see how she stacks up. Thanks for seting me on this crazy winding road P.

I'll be back with the CJs,sativa Acc. next week. And an update on the tfluxes as they dry and cure.

Coolness S....I haven't grown TFlux in a few years. Your plants look like they got a fairly even break on the parents? I'm surprised if you didn't encounter some mutations from the Flo mom....I recall mine having some full blown mutants and some partial mutants.

I don't recall the Chem DD having that much effect on the cross in the F1...as far as aroma and flavor. Seemed like my plants had more Flo resin profiles. Your description sounds similar.

* When I made TFlux....I was interested in finding Flo dominant plants....but with added potency. Wanted my Flo mom...the mellowness/calmness of her resin profile..with a more orbiting power. I thought that the Chem DD males could make it happen. And if DD beefed up the...generally...low Flo yields...I was all for it as well.

I wish I had been documenting....when TFlux came to be. That was a crazy breeding era for me. I was growing all kinds of stuff then....Hogsbreath...Bull rider...AK 47...Romulan...Bogbubble...Bogglegum...Lifesaver...Master Kush...and a bunch of unknown genetics from NorCal...and I gave all of them away....even the Flo mom. It seems like a lifetime ago.

Man...I'm always glad to see others opening up their own doors. Props on your 1st cross....beginning of a new era for you. You will find...it's not as hard as others make it out to be. It's just not. It's very simple. Happy Harvests.......judge them with scrutiny...it's the only way expression selection works. Be hard on them. Make them perform.

Thanks for the rep. guys, very much appreciated.

Hey P,thanks for the input. Feel like I'm squatting in yer digs, but you said I could soooo...

On the TF. Yeah,my thoughts exactly. It looks pretty even between the parents. I was expecting to see more Flo influence. But these are the F2s so you might have spun it more towards the CDD? The calyxes look very diesely from what I've seen around here...and theres an acrid sort of funk there that I've never smelled in any blue plant I've ever had.
Having said that,I had some crinkle in early veg and they do smell flo(ral)'ish too. The texture of the leaves are very Flo too,IMO.
Gonna be jarring up the smaller stuff and brown bagging the bigger ones today so I'll be sniffing/smoking/squeezing attentively.
I'll be germing some F2 and F1 to start my own line work on these in a month or so.

For sure the beginning of a new paradigm. I'm already kind of hating myself for not keeping a single male...but hey, part of the new paradigm is NOT keeping every individual.Being critical, yet trusting my instincts. Its all about the pools now, general trends, hunches seeing affinity between populations. Part of that is unlearning the drug manufacturer's mentality of keeping everything. Plants will be coming and going. I won't be off the clones yet, because I don't have the space for enough plants. Breeding populations will be built over a few runs.

You're an inspiration,dude. I'm glad I stumbled into your thread a year ago,it was a revelation.

O...those are the F2. I used a semi mutant female (she was mutant on only one branch) and another Flo dominant to make the F2.

From here: flower structure looks more DD(ish) and those leaves look more like Flo. Could be interesting smoke.

* Strangely....the TFlux didn't show much...if any...Blue line coloring. When mixed with the Highland Mex x BB (TFlux Highland)...however...the colors came back. I don't know why that would be.

I'm happy that others can appreciate the genetics. I..myself...have had a lot of help along the way. Yes...much help. Original Flo and the 1st batch release of Chem DD are epic lines imo. Not sure you will find them easily any longer.

“For the first time, God has competition” - Syn Bio

Hey Pablo,

In keeping with the sometimes existential nature of your musings I offer this link to an amazing article on synthetic biology.

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/09/28/090928fa_fact_specter?currentPage=all

It's a field that is advancing behind the scenes at such an exponential rate that most folks will be surprised one day when they wake up and....

from the article:

"The deeply unpleasant risks associated with synthetic biology are not hard to imagine: who would control this technology, who would pay for it, and how much would it cost? Would we all have access or, as in the 1997 film “Gattaca,” which envisaged a world where the most successful children were eugenically selected, would there be genetic haves and have-nots and a new type of discrimination—genoism—to accompany it? Moreover, how safe can it be to manipulate and create life? How likely are accidents that would unleash organisms onto a world that is not prepared for them? And will it be an easy technology for people bent on destruction to acquire? “We are talking about things that have never been done before,” Endy said. “If the society that powered this technology collapses in some way, we would go extinct pretty quickly. You wouldn’t have a chance to revert back to the farm or to the pre-farm. We would just be gone. ”

I wondered how much of this was science fiction. Endy stood up. “Can I show you something?” he asked, as he walked over to a bookshelf and grabbed four gray bottles. Each one contained about half a cup of sugar, and each had a letter on it: A, T, C, or G, for the four nucleotides in our DNA. “You can buy jars of these chemicals that are derived from sugarcane,” he said. “And they end up being the four bases of DNA in a form that can be readily assembled. You hook the bottles up to a machine, and into the machine comes information from a computer, a sequence of DNA—like T-A-A-T-A-G-C-A-A. You program in whatever you want to build, and that machine will stitch the genetic material together from scratch. This is the recipe: you take information and the raw chemicals and compile genetic material. Just sit down at your laptop and type the letters and out comes your organism.”

We don’t have machines that can turn those sugars into entire genomes yet. Endy shrugged. “But I don’t see any physical reason why we won’t,” he said. “It’s a question of money. If somebody wants to pay for it, then it will get done.” He looked at his watch, apologized, and said, “I’m sorry, we will have to continue this discussion another day, because I have an appointment with some people from the Department of Homeland Security.”

I was a little surprised. “They are asking the same questions as you,” he said. “They want to know how far is this really going to go.

It's a long article worth reading just to know what is changing, how, and by whom. There is mention of BioBricks.org, a group focused on this new world and working to keep it transparent and ethical. They are also sort of a Walmart for DNA, RNA, and any other existing components for Syn Bio. A one-stop shopping place.

Why worry about nuclear bombs? All the shit going on about Iran wanting the Bomb pales in comparison to how easy it will be (is now?) to create bio weapons or even whole organisms. This could become the Holy Grail for medicine as well as every sci-fi movie's nightmare you've ever seen rolled into one.

This is truly Pandora's Box...because there are people out there that cannot handle unlimited, God-like power when they get it. They'll spoil the game for everyone and every living thing. Fukushima comes close...time-release radioactive poison and death, however this technology offers a chance to unleash the unconscious mind's deviations....like the 1950's movie Forbidden Planet where the monsters came from the Id of Dr. Morbius, the mad scientist, yet could destroy in real time.

So...how's things wit you, brother?
